Vanity Fairy announces Queen of Queens EP. Listen to the title track now

Queen of Queens is the new EP from Vanity Fairy, set for release on October 16. The announcement arrives alongside the title track and lead single and provides the follow up to last year’s Top of the Pops EP. Already firmly established as a cult favourite, Vanity Fairy is on a one woman mission to bring the joy of disco music back to the mainstream.

The Queen of Queens EP is a firm statement to that effect, providing nothing short of pure, glorious escapism, reveling in the hedonistic indulgences of 80s funk and classic 70s disco.

Vanity Fairy’s lyrics deal with universally relatable feelings and anxieties, bringing a wistfulness to the songs, nowhere more so than the new single, which is about “all the insecurities and anxieties that can go along with being in a romantic relationship…that feeling of being inadequate or undeserving in some way of someone else’s love. The song’s character kind of swings between feeling incredibly confident and self-assured – high on her partner’s love and adoration – to crashing into the depths of despair, even suspecting there must be something deeply wrong with her partner if he does in fact truly love her.  This is kind of the ultimate expression of low self esteem in the context of relationships I feel… to think that your partner themselves must be fatally flawed to be showing someone as unworthy and damaged as you the kind of attention and adoration they do.”
