Today’s single presents the oscillating emotions of post-break-up limbo with energetic acoustic strumming, languid electric guitar, and a final declaration, “Fuck my life, goddamnit I might!” She moves confidently and quickly in her vocal style, showcasing her mastering the craft of phrasing: “I used to think I needed to read your mind/I’m only gonna find what I’m gonna find, and then we’ll fuck and then we’ll fight.”

Reflecting on the track, Diaz says, “‘Feel Something’ is about the deep yearning and desire to connect. It’s the moment when you’re trying to call in the love that was lost. “’Everything Almost’ is about my constant wondering within a relationship,” comments Diaz. “How much should I be saying things out loud or am I saying too much out loud? What should I keep for myself? What’s mine that could become ours, that should become ours? What dreams are just mine that I could share with you only to discover they’re your dreams too? It’s an investigation of the depth of how far this thing could go. Am I allowed to keep some of me for me? Saying all of this out loud feels important. It is about realizing I can’t ever be everything for someone but maybe I can be almost everything.” Weird Faith answers these questions bluntly, and chronicles a new relationship, but also a new relationship to Diaz herself, exploring how anxiety-inducing — if not downright humiliating — falling in love can be.

“I wrote ‘Hangover’ with Jesse Thomas and Drew Pearson when I was still feeling the lagging throws of heartbreak—the waking up in withdrawal, aching, reeling over a person and all the things that come after it’s over,” says Diaz. “Sometimes it feels like you’re just stumbling around a city and in every corner there’s a memory. At every table in every restaurant some argument, on every street corner some kiss, at the 7 eleven some melt down. ‘Hangover’ is about bumping into that old feeling and reliving the less appealing side effects of not being in love with that person anymore.”
