Brocarde, the gothic siren of rock and paranormal provocateur, returns with her latest single and music video, ‘Pandora’s Box,’ the follow-up to her acclaimed collaboration ‘Feed My Soul’ with Korn’s Ray Luzier.

‘Pandora’s Box’ is a sonic rebellion, a fight song laced with sarcasm, theatrical grit, and raw emotion. The music video plunges viewers into a surreal puppet show of identity and control, where Brocarde plays both marionette and master. Brocarde explains further.

“At its core, ‘Pandora’s Box’ is about being misunderstood. So often, I feel misrepresented, and this song channels that frustration into something fierce and empowering. In the video, the Puppet Master is everyone and no one. It’s that figurehead of control, whoever. I’m literally playing into its hands and becoming my own self-fulfilling prophecy.”

With haunting doll-like imagery and a twisted fairytale aesthetic, ‘Pandora’s Box’ continues Brocarde’s exploration of identity, perception, and the silent terror beneath surface perfection.

“There’s something powerful about the image of a doll, picture-perfect on the surface, but hauntingly silent underneath. And let’s face it, most dolls are terrifying!” adds Brocarde.

Chicago rockers, Ignescent, are excited to announce the release of their new studio album, Eternal, out on March 20, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. To celebrate the announcement, the band share the new single and accompanying official video, ‘Joker’, available below.

Jennifer Benson commented: “The track is about when the people we love – or thought loved us – hurt and betray us with their words. It’s about the kind of pain that cuts deeper than we expect – when gossip, lies, or broken trust awaken something dark inside. The hurt stirs the Hyde within, and in the aftermath, we’re left feeling like fools forever believing in their love. “I’ll be a joker for you” becomes both a confession and a declaration – a raw acknowledgment of the scars left behind”.

“Driven by haunting vocals and explosive energy, the track dives into the tension between heartbreak and healing – between vengeance and grace. It’s an anthem for anyone who’s been wounded by words yet still chooses to rise”, she continued.

Marking the final step before the release of their new album X, out the same day via Rockshots Records, Secret Rule return with ‘Collapse’, a high-energy, hard-hitting modern metal anthem that blends unstoppable grooves with a sharp message about a world on the brink.

Driven by Angela Di Vincenzo’s fierce vocal performance and Andy Menario’s razor-edged production, ‘Collapse’ captures the tension between chaos and resilience, translating global turmoil into pure musical adrenaline. The track is released together with a striking official video, perfectly reflecting the song’s urgency and visual intensity.

Angela comments: “It’s the kind of song that gets your body moving while your mind wakes up. The energy is pure fire, but underneath, it’s a wake-up call about the world we’re losing.”

Andy adds: “With ‘Collapse’ I wanted a sound that could hit hard in a live show — something you feel in your chest. It’s aggressive, melodic and super jumpy… a real crowd-mover.”

German-based alternative outfit SEVEN BLOOD have released a brand new music video. The video, for the track ’Not Your Misery,’ is the latest single to be lifted from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Life Is Just A Phase, which is scheduled to be released in November this year via self-release. The album explores themes of survival, recovery, and emotional resilience.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Azaria Nasiri shares, “’Not Your Misery’ is a declaration of self-preservation and reclaimed power. The song captures the moment I finally drew a line between empathy and self-destruction, choosing to protect my peace instead of being pulled into someone else’s downward spiral. At its heart lies a painful realisation: ‘The way you hurt yourself almost killed me.’ It’s about recognising that another person’s misery can become a weapon. One that keeps you trapped in a cycle of guilt and caretaking. Not Your Misery marks my decision to step out of that role, to stop shrinking myself for someone else’s chaos, and to choose freedom, clarity, and self-respect over toxic connection.”

PAVÉ return with their third single of the year, ‘The Weight Of Letting Go,’ a track that pushes their sound into darker, more cinematic territory while still carrying the unmistakable stamp of their identity. Produced by Jon Cass (As Everything Unfolds, South Arcade, Lake Malice) and mastered by Pete Maher (Pixies, Liam Gallagher, Linkin Park), the single continues the band’s creative streak of defying repetition. Its artwork, once again designed by Zach Lorea (REPRESENT, Cole Buxton, Salomon), captures the eerie tension and layered storytelling at the heart of the release.

The band explain: “This track peers through the eyes of someone who’s come back to life, only to see the world with a sharper, almost unbearable clarity. It’s about that strange moment when everything feels both familiar and alien, when the streets you grew up on suddenly feel heavier, darker, less forgiving. At its core, the song wrestles with the tension between escape and accepting that nagging thought that even if you leave it all behind, the cycle repeats, the seasons turn, and the same shadows follow close behind.”

Lyrically, it marks a new chapter for PAVÉ, written not from personal confession but through the creation of a character and world that gave space to explore broader, haunting themes. The result is both an observation and a reminder: sometimes change doesn’t come from the world collapsing, it comes from what we choose to see when it doesn’t.

European (Prague, CZ) modern metal band Stellvris has dropped their latest single, ‘Silence After Violence,’ a searing anthem from their upcoming EP Shatter and Bloom, set to release on November 7. Produced by Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay, Caskets) at Sawdust Recordings, the track delivers a visceral punch, confronting the rising aggression in society and channeling it into a cathartic, high-voltage experience.

“We see violence and frustration creeping into younger generations, and it’s terrifying. This song is a wake-up call — a cry for awareness and action,” says vocalist Nicol Hofman.

Italian modern metal act Secret Rule presents their new single ‘In The Silence’, the latest chapter leading up to the release of their upcoming album X, out October 24 via Rockshots Records.

Following the impactful ‘Just a Sacrifice’, the environmental call of ‘Echoes of the Earth’ and the emotional depth of ‘Silent Pain’, this new single turns inward, exploring the dialogue with our inner self—the quietest voice that often carries the most strength.

Blending cinematic modern metal textures with an unexpected rap section performed by bassist Sofia Basili and enriched by orchestral counterpoints, ‘In The Silence’ weaves together fragility, honesty, and resilience. Angela Di Vincenzo’s heartfelt vocals capture the tension between weakness and inner strength while Andy Menario’s production strikes a balance between heaviness and atmosphere.

Angela comments: “This song is a dialogue with your inner self—the version of you that holds your strength when you’re at your weakest. Writing it was like letting that voice finally speak.”

Sofia adds: “My part is that quiet voice inside, the one that whispers when you’re ready to hear the truth. It’s not about volume, it’s about honesty.”

Canadian chaos-makers Sumo Cyco are back to prove that “boring” is not in their vocabulary with their new single ‘Boring’, a mix of team vocals, driving riffs, and their signature mash-up of metal, punk, and pop mayhem.

Far from its tame title, ‘Boring’ is a rallying cry for anyone feeling stuck in the grind of daily life. “This song is about the challenge to keep the adventure going in the face of routine and the predictable,” says Skye. “Life can feel like a grind, but we always have the choice to be vibrant and push ourselves outside of our comfort zones.”

Following a few feverishly-received singles, Vegas-based sister duo The Pretty Wild have now announced the details behind their first full-length release, zero.point.genesis. Better yet, they’ve done so by unveiling a genre-obliterating single called ‘PARADOX’ that’s absolutely befitting of the band’s moniker.

The new tune is the band’s fourth original single of 2025, and follows viral smashes like ‘Button Eyes’. As some of their recent work, ‘PARADOX’ presents plenty of cross-pollination, with the tune finding the group’s Jyl and Jules bouncing from melodic croons, to hyper-aggro screams to highly-caffeinated, triplet-spat rap bars. Beneath all that, you’ve got an assemblage of meaty nu-grooves, Nightmare Before Christmas-sy music box melancholy and more. [via Revolver]

VINTERSEA return with another fantastic new song and video for their latest composition ‘Become The Wave.’ The Portland-based outfit, fronted by new vocalist Kayla Dixon, are currently one of the most inspiring and adventurous groups bubbling under.

“If ‘Celestial Abscission’ was our big bang out of the gate to show the world what VINTERSEA can do with our new vocalist (Kayla Dixon), ‘Become the Wave’ is a statement about where VINTERSEA is headed and what we want our music to represent,” states guitarist Riley Nix. “In some ways it is a return to form – melodic, brutal, groovy, and inspiring – but it is also different from anything you have heard from us before. Kayla brought huge energy, heartfelt performances, and some really unique tones that drove the song in a fresh direction from the outset.”

“I am super excited for people to scope out the video for ‘Become the Wave.’ We built a unique set in my garage, explored epic locations at the Oregon Coast, and tried a few things we have never done before,” explains Karl. “This is classic VINTERSEA, but with some new moves. Kayla crushed the vocal performance, and used techniques I’ve never heard before. We’ve played this song live on our last couple of tours, and it kills every show. I can’t wait for you all to hear what we can do.”

Arch Enemy is doing the whole “release a bunch of new songs as part of a deluxe version of their latest album” thing with the digital deluxe edition of Blood Dynasty. The new version of the record features ‘Break the Spell’, ‘Moths’, and ‘Lachrymatory’; the first of which you can stream right now. It’s certainly a song by Arch Enemy in 2025.

“‘Break The Spell’ is a raw, introspective journey through despair and resilience,” said Arch Enemy of the track. “It confronts mortality, fear, and emotional collapse — yet refuses to surrender. Haunting and defiant, it transforms pain into empowerment, offering strength to anyone fighting through dark times.” [via Metal Injection]

AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have released a brand new music video. The new single, titled ‘POINT OF VIEW,’ is the second track to be released following the UK post-hardcore band’s recent signing to Century Media Records. It follows on from ‘SET IN FLOW,’ which was released back in June.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Charlie Rolfe shares, “you give everything you have, your whole being, your whole life, to help someone but it’s never enough if they don’t want to help themselves. I really struggled to understand how someone close to me couldn’t see my point of view in the awful situation we were in. They were angry when I helped, they were angry when I gave them space, they were angry when I stayed, they were angry when I left.”

She continues, “it destroyed my confidence and my self worth having to live in an environment where nothing I ever did was good enough. It hurts deeply to watch what can only be described as a car crash in slow motion, being unable to stop it but just having the strength to walk away and value your own mental health, your own sanity helped me gain back a small amount of those parts of me I lost. I really hope that some day, that person can listen to this song, and truly understand what it was like to be in that situation from my point of view.”

Italian modern metal act Secret Rule unveil their powerful new single ‘Silent Pain’, the third track taken from their upcoming tenth studio album X, due out on October 24 via Rockshots Records.

Following the energetic ‘Just a Sacrifice’ and the evocative ‘Echoes of the Earth’, ‘Silent Pain’ dives into the emotional terrain of hidden suffering. With haunting melodies, cinematic arrangements and raw, confessional lyrics, the song captures the invisible battles we fight behind closed doors—where pain is masked by silence and strength is found in vulnerability.

“‘Silent Pain’ is a song I deeply connect with—it’s about giving a voice to emotions we often keep buried. Singing it felt like releasing something I had been holding in for years”, shares vocalist and lyricist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Musically, the track merges heavy grooves with fragile atmospheres, reflecting the duality of emotional turmoil and healing. Guitarist and producer Andy Menario explains: “I wanted the guitars to echo the internal chaos and quiet desperation behind the lyrics—sometimes heavy, sometimes fragile, just like the human mind.”

Megg Jacobs dives even deeper into the brutal emotional terrain first explored in her previous single ‘ego’ with the release of its companion track, ‘DEATH,’ a volatile meditation on all-or-nothing thinking, illusion, and the chaos that follows the rejection of nuance.

“‘DEATH’ is about the fallout of denying that middle space,” Megg Jacobs shares. “It’s the exhaustion that comes from clinging to black-and-white thinking while everything around you demands complexity.” With her signature fusion of thunderous drums, guttural vocals, and emotionally layered lyrics, Jacobs crafts a deep atmosphere that is as aggressive as it is vulnerable. She describes the track as being stuck in a loop, between glitter in the dirt and dirt in the glitter. One is rot masked by beauty, the other corruption masked by sparkle. “Neither is honest,” she explains. “Both are masks we wear to avoid nuance: the real discomfort of being human.” The new single builds on the themes of ego death and transformation first introduced in ‘ego,’ capturing the psychological wear-and-tear that results from resisting the complicated truths of being alive.

Renowned J-Metal group, BABYMETAL have released their highly anticipated new album METAL FORTH via Capitol Records. Along with the release, the group put out a new music video for their explosive track ‘My Queen’ (feat. Spiritbox).

Hotly-tipped Floridian quintet, Not Enough Space have released their powerful new single ‘Don’t Let Go,’ the latest offering from their forthcoming debut full-length album Weaponize Your Rage, set for release on September 12 via Thriller Records.

‘Don’t Let Go’ confronts the desperate beauty of clinging to hope when everything else is unraveling. With soaring emotion and crushing intensity, the track is a poignant showcase of the band’s ability to fuse raw vulnerability with unrelenting force.

“‘Don’t Let Go,’ captures the experience of facing struggles and hardships together with your partner,” Not Enough Space explains. “It highlights the importance of holding on through difficult times and not losing sight of each other. Blending soft, somber moments with bursts of energy and intensity, the song reflects the emotional depth of embracing both the highs and lows of love.”

Brighton’s self-defined ‘Brat Metal’ trio Eville, made up of singer/guitarist Eva Sheldrake, bassist/singer/producer Jude Richards, and drummer Milo Hemsley, have announced their debut EP BRAT METAL, set for release on October 17. The announcement is made ahead of the band’s hotly-anticipated appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival.

Leading the charge is new single ‘BR4T MBL’ (pronounced brat mobile), a high-octane anthem inspired by Fast & Furious, Need for Speed, and the hyper-feminine aesthetics of Y2K icons like Paris Hilton. The track is packed with car-themed wordplay – with each line in the first verse shifting gears, from “FIRST off the line, you’re a SECOND too late” and beyond – delivering an empowering message that firmly puts women in the driver’s seat. The bold, glossy video brings the concept to life in full throttle.

Speaking of the track, vocalist Eva Sheldrake shares, “We wanted to write an empowering song that puts women in the driver’s seat for a change.”

Portland’s Dying Wish specialize in a particularly brutal form of metalcore. Emma Boster can actually sing when she isn’t bringing the hellfire beast-roars, and the band really steers into that ability on their new song ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around,’ the lead single from the upcoming LP Flesh Stays Together. The heavy parts feel heavier because of the ominous beauty in Boster’s voice, and when the breakdown comes in, they bring it.

Flesh Stays Together follows Dying Wish’s 2023 album Symptoms Of Survival, as well as ‘I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair),’ the one-off single that came out earlier this year. Dying Wish recorded Flesh Stays Together with Knocked Loose collaborator Will Putney, and ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ has a lot of that band’s sincere guttural lurch. Dying Wish already tour big rooms, but if the rest of the record sounds like this, I could see them following Knocked Loose into even bigger ones.

Dying Wish member Pedro Carrillo co-directed the ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ video with Eric Richter, and it’s got all the bloody theatricality that you’d hope.

Finnish heavy metal powerhouse BATTLE BEAST continues their unstoppable rise with the release of their brand-new single and music video ‘Here We Are‘. With this new single, the band officially announces their highly anticipated seventh studio album Steelbound, set to be released on October 17 via Nuclear Blast.

‘Here We Are‘ marks the third single taken from Steelbound, and it’s a bold, unapologetic anthem of resilience and unity. Armed with thunderous riffs, powerful vocals, and infectious hooks, the song captures the spirit of overcoming adversity and standing strong together.

Song writer Joona Björkroth comments: “‘Here We Are’ captures that moment after the storm has passed — you’ve faced challenges, been tested, and somehow come through the other side a little stronger, a bit wiser, and perhaps a bit more grounded. Things might not have gone perfectly, but you’ve endured. The song is a tribute to perseverance and resilience — to standing tall just the way you are, nothing more, nothing less.”

Noora Louhimo adds: “We’ve all been down in the depths – each of us and all of us together. Still we’ve always gotten back up, even if bruised and bloodied. And here we are still, stronger than ever. No matter how tough the journey, we’re always stronger when we face it together”

The track is paired with a stunning music video that brings its message to life in true BATTLE BEAST fashion: dramatic, powerful, and visually striking.

UK metal outfit CAGE FIGHT have released a brand new single. Titled ‘IHYG (I Hate Your Guts)’, the new track marks the band’s first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album, which was released back in May 2022, via Candlelight Records. The song features deeply personal lyrics from vocalist Rachel Aspe, detailing a bleak and traumatic experience. The new music video was directed by Shaun Hodson (Loki Films).

Speaking about the new song, vocalist Rachel Aspe says, “’IHYG‘is a response to a deeply traumatic experience that had a life changing impact on me. It crushed my confidence and self-worth which spiralled me to rock bottom, but I’ve become stronger and more resilient than ever. This experience inspired me to write lyrics for the first time, resulting in this song. The video tells this story.”

Guitarist James Monteith adds, “since the release of our debut album we’ve been through some changes and significantly evolved as a unit. We’ve gotten to know each other much more musically and personally, and the result is a much more honed vision of CAGE FIGHT. IHYG is the first taste of what’s to come. We’re also excited to finally release new music with our new bassist Will Horsman.”

Face Yourself have unleashed vicious single ‘Fractures’, taken from their upcoming EP Fury. With the full EP set to arrive on September 26 via Sumerian Records, the track dissects the violence of beauty standards and self-hatred.

Speaking on ‘Fractures’, vocalist Yasmine Liverneaux has shared: “We are excited to release our new single ‘Fractures’ produced by Joey Sturgis. The lyrics explore a darker theme, as it speaks a lot about self hatred, exploring the pressure of beauty standards and the “mutilations” those pressures can lead someone to. It’s like changing your appearance so much to fit a mould to the point that you don’t even recognise yourself which can be very violent.”

Rockshots Records and Secret Rule are excited to announce the release of the band’s new single ‘Echoes Of The Earth,’ accompanied by a music video. The track is the second preview of Secret Rule’s highly anticipated tenth studio album X, due for release late 2025.

With ‘Echoes Of The Earth’, Secret Rule explores a more introspective and spiritual side of their sound. The song blends heavy grooves, atmospheric tension, and layered electronics, creating a powerful and immersive soundscape. Lyrically, it reflects on the human need to reconnect with what is real and primordial in a chaotic, artificial world.

“It’s about listening for something ancient to guide you. I wrote the lyrics during a time when I needed to feel grounded again. That chorus is the moment of awakening,” says vocalist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Guitarist and producer Andy Menario adds: “We wanted a track that felt direct and alive—something that could carry both chaos and order, like a dialogue between the modern world and the earth itself.”

Edmonton, Canada’s Famous Strangers, unravels their new music video for their latest single ‘L.S.C.’ as they gear up for performances at this year’s festival appearances at Armstrong Metal Fest and Loud As Hell Open Air along with upcoming tour dates to be announced.

As one of the first songs that all four of them in Famous Strangers wrote together from start to finish, the track is raw and intense. It represents exactly where they are as a band right now: fearless in their songwriting and unafraid to blend melody with brutality.

“’L.S.C.’ is meant to take you on a ride. It starts soft, like it is letting you in slowly, and then it flips the switch. The heaviness hits out of nowhere. It grabs you, shakes you, and then drags you through the rest of the track without letting go. It eases you in, then completely takes over, and by the time it is done, it feels like it has drained the life out of you in the best way,” adds guitarist Jeff Kittilitz.

Lyrically, the song is told from the perspective of a female figure who is part human and part spider. It is inspired by the mating behavior of black widows, where attraction, intimacy, and destruction all collide. At its core, it is about obsession, power, and survival. It speaks to the emotional weight of wanting something that was never meant to be yours, and the strength it takes to pull yourself back from that edge.

“What we hope is that this song opens people up a little, even if it’s not what they usually listen to. There’s so much music out there that people miss out on because they’re stuck in one genre or one mindset. We’re trying to break through that and just write what feels real, no matter what it sounds like. We are about being fearless in our songwriting. Put everything on the table, be yourself, and don’t hold back. That’s the energy they’re trying to give people when they press play,” says Kittilitz.

Black metal trio Witch Club Satan have just unveiled a powerful new single and accompanying music video, ‘You Wildflower’.

The rising Norwegian group explain that they’re “exploring gentleness as a resistance movement” on their newest effort, revealing in a statement: “If you make art today, you have to engage with global issues. You must show where you stand: that you stand for all human life, and that no-one should be oppressed.

“Hope is a radical act in today’s world – and it’s also a choice. Giving up can be tempting – it means you don’t have to fight. But ‘You Wildflower’ is a rallying cry to persevere.”

Touching on what’s going on in today’s climate, Witch Club Satan continue that this track is “also about contrast – the world is scarred by war, where the violence seeps into those who care. When you care, you’re marked by the violence taking place. But through that awareness, we’re trying to show that the cycle of violence can be stopped.”

Vitally, they add that, “If you have a microphone and an amplifier, you have power. And then music can’t be separated from politics. At its core, black metal is punk – that’s how we see it: raw, defiant, and uncompromising.”

FACE YOURSELF have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Ov Agony’, is the brand new single from from the American and French deathcore band and follows hot on the heels of their new EP, Martyr, which was released back in April, via Sumerian Records.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Yasmine Liverneaux says, “we are proud to release our new single ‘Ov Agony’ via Sumerian Records. This song is for anyone who has ever felt like giving up. I wrote the lyrics based on a suicide letter that I wrote for my parents when I was 15, that I ended up never giving to them. Now that I have reached a certain peace in my life, it is easier to go back to those darker places, and heal these old wounds through music. I no longer have to hold this pain inside, and now that it has been freed through the music, this pain doesn’t have to be mine anymore. I hope this can resonate with anyone who has shared this feeling, and hopefully let go of their pain knowing that artistic expressions can save lives, and unite people.”

The words of Sages and the sins of the father. With ‘His Dark Materials’, Wailing Banshee bring the whisper and the thunder, combining their NWOBHM inspired sound with modern prog elements.

The track explores the historic waste of life and purging of history and culture by organised religion. It’s a song about no matter how much we step forward as a species, we always seem to regress back into a cycle of manipulation and corruption.

The epic harmony guitar intro subsides quickly to show a more raw and vulnerable side to the band, followed by the track’s gradual crescendo into its heavy metal climax to show both the light and the dark of the song’s themes.

Brazilian Rock band Malvada are excited to announce the release of their self-titled album, out on June 13 via Frontiers Music Srl. Their new single and accompanying video, ‘I’m Sorry’, are also available now.

The band commented on the new album: “It is the result of two years of work, and we are very excited to show the world how much Malvada has grown. We believe it is the best work of our lives and everyone will like it, as it shows our real essence. You will have a real experience”.

About the new single, they added: “It is a song that reflects our reality, being in music means that sometimes we have to be away from people we love. It is a song we made for them. And it is very emotional for us”.

POWERHILL deliver an electrifying ’80s flashback and bring the Rock ’n’ Roll spirit of bygone days to the alpine pasture with their ‘Farm Metal’ mixtape and the new single ‘Generation X’ as the upcoming album’s title track.

Rockshots Records and Secret Rule are thrilled to announce the release of the band’s brand new single called ‘Just A Sacrifice’ available on all digital platforms now, and accompanied by a music video. The track offers the first glimpse into the band’s highly anticipated tenth studio album, due for release later this year.

‘Just A Sacrifice’ is a powerful anthem about the cost of staying true to oneself in a world that demands conformity. Blending heavy guitars, intense vocals, and a bold, wide-open chorus, the song captures both the emotional toll and the inner strength that come with resisting societal pressure.

“This song is about the price we pay for thinking freely, speaking our truth, and refusing to follow the crowd,” the band comments. “It’s deeply personal but also a quiet political statement.”

Texas-based Southern Gothic outfit OCEANS OF SLUMBER releases their newest song, ‘Hearts of Stone’. The track follows their previous release, ‘The Waters Rising’, which came out this past February. Both tracks are off the band’s upcoming album, Starlight and Ash, which is set for release on July 22. “Lost and alone from birth, a product of the institution of life on the streets. Trouble follows this person around like a badge of honor. Grief finding grievances, the perfect formula of despair,” states Cammie Beverly (vocals) about the song.

US rock giants Icon For Hire announce their fifth album The Reckoning due on Sept 9 via Kartel Music Group, and unleash the second single from the project, ‘Dismantled’, a raging and powerful hard rock belter with restless, bristling vocals. Speaking on the track’s lyrics and meaning, lead singer and songwriter Ariel Bloomer says; “‘Dismantled’ came from a very raw and personal place, when I was at a low point. My therapist has been helping me get better at feeling my emotions, so I was sitting on the floor crying and just naming my feelings: broken, pissed off, used, like I’m being stripped for parts. I took that experience to the piano and came out with a ballad. The song totally evolved by the time we got to the studio!”. It’s this ability to deliver bristling lyrics while snaring a heavy and explosive sound that give an indication for where things are headed with Icon For Hire’s upcoming album.

After releasing ‘One More’ and ‘Obsession’, the melodic metal band Secret Rule, releases its third music video for the single ‘The Illusion’ along with the physical release of The Resilient album. Instead, to obtain the whole album on all the digital platforms, fans will have to wait until July 1st. Secret Rule says: “Looking at the future, as we always did, we see clearly the direction this world has taken, and we don’t like it. Social media have completely changed the 21st century, and today they lead and influence public opinion by applying debatable worldwide censorship. Today war is not only on the ground but also fought on the social by hits of propaganda well thought to bring society towards a precise direction, and we can’t pretend not to see what’s happening. Our rights, our freedom, and our lives are at risk. This album keeps bringing ahead our battle for the truth.”

Jinjer have unveiled a music video for their 2021 track ‘Call Me a Symbol.’ The clip begins with a stark message before showcasing some high-energy performance footage: “This video marks the 105th day of Russian invasion of Ukraine. How many more days and nights will our people have to suffer this horrible war?” Regarding the video, Eugene said: “I think this video for ‘Call Me A Symbol’ will forever hold a special and unique place in our hearts as a band. Filmed on our short but awesome European Tour in 2021 tour that almost did not happen because of the pandemic, and now released at such a dark time in which our country has been invaded and there is war on the streets of our home.” He continued: “I really hope this video and this important time in history gives people a new perspective that there are always two sides to everything. Good and Evil, Just and unjust – cherish the good times and face the bad head on… but never ever give up.” [via Consequence]

Montreal, QC’s Eternal Closure has long been a metalcore mainstay in the Eastern Canadian music scene, but is taking on a new identity with their next album At the Center of It All – Chapter I produced with Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy), which not only showcases their new vocalist, but also gives fans a chance to check out how they have progressed musically, incorporating influences such as post-rock, prog metal, and djent. The first look into their new album is the single ‘Practice What You Preach’, one of the band’s most aggressive cuts. They explain further: “This song is a full-on thrash assault for most of its duration. The chorus then becomes a bit more of a heavy groove. The riffs then become a bit more prog in nature while retaining the thrashy aggressiveness. After the end of the bridge, we bring the song down into a soft clean bridge that slowly develops into this anthemic guitar duo section and eventually goes back to the beginning of the song with the intensity at its peak. The ambient outro then leads directly into Exiled. The lyrics deal with people who think they have it all figured out and resent other people they judge not worthy of speaking on anything.” On ‘Practice What You Preach’, every member gets a chance to shine on one of the album’s most cathartic tracks, where old-school thrash riffs seamlessly blend with melodic guitar solos and modern production. The music video shows a woman starting to see the ugly side of herself that she buried inside, starting to replace who she thought she was. Mirror imagery was used in almost every shot to emphasize the theme. Montreal-based filmmaker Matt Veillette and his team really went out of their way to create powerful and evocative scenes that enhance the song’s message. [via Insane Blog]

Kallias is now streaming their progressive-as-hell new single ‘The Dark Machine.’ The single covers a ton of ground from Opeth-related weirdness to Meshuggah-esque rhythms, and then of course plenty of Jeff Loomis-style shred. So y’know, everything you’d want from a progressive metal song. “‘The Dark Machine’ is a driving force and arguably our most aggressive song to date,” said vocalist and guitarist Nicole Papastavrou. “JP and I really let our death metal roots come out for this one, and Zaki and Chris wove it together beautifully with some melody. The song is about winter, strength and commitment in the alpine.” [via Metal Injection]

Beyond the Black have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Reincarnation’, is the brand new single from the German symphonic metal band and marks their first new music since 2020’s Hørizøns. The new single is also the band’s first new music since signing with metal label giants Nuclear Blast Records. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Jennifer Haben says, “’Reincarnation’ materialized from a growing recognition of our mortality as humans and the consequent responsibility to live our lives to the fullest. This responsibility means to stand up for yourself, relentlessly fight for your values and also confront your biggest fears. Reincarnation is about becoming your true self and starts a new, epic chapter. This is BEYOND THE BLACK! And BEYOND THE BLACK is back!” [via Distorted Sound]

Italian heavy rockers Secret Rule have released a video for their brand new single ‘Obsession’ taken from the upcoming album The Resilient out on June 17. This tune is a high-energy mid-time song, heavy and dramatic with an addictive chorus that shows the diversity of Secret Rule’s musical progression. Angela says: “This song is for all those fighters out there who have kept resisting these last two years, somehow. This society keeps putting us in front of difficult choices that could change our life completely. And the question is: do we have to keep fighting even if this could cut us off from society, or is it better to bow our heads and stick to the rules so as not to have problems? Any option would be understandable, we’re living in an unfair world, and each of us knows what is ready to lose. We’re here to give strength to everyone and speak to our community with no filters. But we can’t pretend everything is going well.”

The Sacramento-based quintet Graveshadow – who deftly mixes symphonic/gothic metal with elements of doom, thrash and epic progressive power metal – have unveiled ‘The Swordsman,’ the latest single from their forthcoming album, The Uncertain Hour. The band’s third album will be released July 15. ‘The Swordsman’ is also special as it features guest vocals from Chelsea Murphy (Dawn of Ouroboros, Cailleach Calling, Tegmentum). “I’m really excited to release ‘The Swordsman’ which has kind of snuck up on me as another favorite off the record, explains vocalist Rachl “Raxx” Quinn. “The interplay of the clean and harsh vocals was something I was thrilled with the outcome on. The way they support each other really adds a great dynamic to the song. As a band it was great to have Chelsea guest on the track, her performance is absolutely incredible!”

WARGASM announce their debut mixtape Explicit coming soon via slowplay/Republic Records. To celebrate the project’s announcement, Wargasm share the lead single ‘D.R.I.L.D.O’. with accompanying music video. The new track flitters between electronic and heavy metal as WARGASM give us a taste of what’s to come next. ‘D.R.I.L.D.O’ features a nocturnal bassline as Milkie leads us into a false sense of sultry security before Sam counters with his signature vocals and a fiery guitar riff to match. Speaking on the track “It’s a good bridge between the two elements of Wargasm, which are super fun, sexy, and electronic and also fresh and metal,” Sam continues. “You can clearly hear the both of us. We want there to be two characters in the music. You should have a favourite.”

Eternal Frequency has released a music video for their song ‘A.I.’. The clip is the second installment in the band’s Matrix-esque video series that kicked off with ‘Step Up’. They had this to say about the new video, “Drawing inspiration from cult classic films such as The Matrix, Blade Runner, and The Fifth Element, ‘AI’ offers a chaotic cinematic viewing experience and a look into the future, creating a high-intensity, action-packed visual.” Frontwoman Emelle shared, “‘A.I’ is the second installment of our epic trilogy and this picks up where ‘Step Up’ left off. ‘A.I.’ brings up the unavoidable challenge that every artist will eventually face and that is someone who is not part of your camp telling you what they think is best for you. It is about not conforming to anyone’s preconceived notion about you and refusing to be controlled by the system. This is our message to be who you are in your image alone.” [via Anti Music]

Conquer Divide have released the official music video for the band’s lead single from their upcoming new studio album. The song, ‘Atonement,’ was premiered by Sirius XM’s “Octane”. Guitarist Kristen Sturgis shares, “The song touches on feelings of regret, which we tried to convey in the video. You can see one of our other music videos in the reflection of the eye, for example. They’re watching the time tick by wondering what their life could have been like if they would have toughed it out and put the work in. The hardest things in life are the most rewarding, and life is short. So, if you’re not ready to meet us on our level, then get out of the way.” Drummer Sam Landa adds, “The word atonement is about making reparations; about seeking forgiveness; about feeling sorry for something you’ve done and hoping to make things right. In the context of this song, it’s too late for that – the damage has already been done and there’s no going back. The song tries to capture the feelings of betrayal, of being left high and dry by people who wanted to take the easy way out. The emotions really explode in the breakdown, and the progression mirrors how situations like this can build up in real life. There’s a kind of calm before the storm, and then another sense of calm after. ‘We don’t know who you are’, and we’ve accepted that – just don’t try to come back and beg for forgiveness when you’ve exhausted all of your chances.” [via All About the Rock]

We’re still a couple months out from Arch Enemy releasing their new album, Deceivers, but the Swedish melodeath troupe are back to tide us over with a crushing new single titled ‘Sunset Over the Empire.’ Compared to the Judas Priest-esque ‘Handshake With Hell’ and the galloping ‘House of Mirrors,’ this track is more in-line with the band’s death-metal origins — no clean vocals, no moody experimentation, just skull-crushing riffs and demonic vocals from frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz. “This is a faster song with some manic riffs and a relentless beat that I can envision becoming a ‘hit in the pit,'” said songwriter Michael Ammott. “Lyrically, it’s sadly one of those that seems to ring more true with each and every passing day nowadays…’Words turned to war, brother fighting brother, another false truce, as the people die.'” [via Revolver]

Blackwater Drowning is now streaming ‘Aberrant Leaves’ off their new album Sonder//Satori. If you’re in the mood for a song that’ll kick you right in the teeth and then never stop (think somewhere between Behemoth and Jinjer), and then this one is for you. “This song is about corruption in places of power, and the dichotomy that lies there,” said the band. “An entity that’s supposed to protect and serve you, using you for their own ends to further their own narrative. We worked with the fabulously creative Garrett Barefoot for this video, as he was also a major part of the recording process of this entire album and really understood what our mindset for this track is. We wrote the chorus in the studio with Jon Berrier, our amazing producer, hopped up on energy drinks at about 2am one night, and it’s one of our favorites on the album! We are incredibly proud of this finished product and hope it resonates with this current world climate as much as it does with us when we wrote it.” [via Metal Injection]

Finnish Rioghan is set to release her debut album Different Kinds Of Losses later in 2022 via Inverse Records. The album has been made in collaboration with Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Teemu Liekkala (ex-Manufacturer’s Pride, Red Eleven) and Teemu Koskela (ex-Celesty). Rioghan comments on the ‘Promises’ single: “’Promises’ brings out some new colors and tunes from Rioghan. A bit more aggressive, a bit more djenty, let’s see where it leads. The lyric of this song inspired the overall mood and structure a lot, as it tells a story of violence from those who are closest to you. The song holds some sharp turns and reflects the more progressive metal side of the upcoming album.” [via Metal Goddesses]

After releasing their introspective seventh album Mea Culpa, where it was already possible to perceive how the environment has influenced their music and what the world was living, Secret Rule, talented players of modern rock-metal, have prepared their new album The Resilient and present the first single/video ‘One More’, out via 7HARD Records. With a dark-cinematic opening, ‘One More’ cuts sharp like a razor blade without making any compromises. With distorted guitars, rumbly drums, and a really angry voice, Secret Rule express their position on the war speaking directly to the guilty who keep pursuing their interests for their dirty power games.

It’s 2022 and Blacklab are back. The self styled ‘Doom witch duo from Osaka’ are set to drop their third album in the Summer. In the meantime ahead of their first appearance outside of Japan at London’s Desertfest, the band are dropping a new single which is a little taster for the sonic mayhem to come on album 3. ‘Abyss Woods’ has all the trademark Blacklab sounds, furious fuzzed up riffs, rolling thunder drums and vocals slipping seamlessly from melodic to full on throat shred. Heavy stoner doom as only these two women know how to do. Add to that a new found assurance in the studio, with production by Jun Morino and mix by Wayne Adams (Big Lad, Green Lung, John, Cold In Berlin) and you have a potent indication of what’s to come on album 3, which is set to ramp things up even further. Plus there is a new video in full on psychedelic doom metal overload mode to whet your appetite for catching them live.

Today the spotlight is being focused on Norwegian solo metal artist Anniken and her latest single off her forthcoming debut album Climb Out of Hell on May 13 via Rockshots Records. Entitled, ‘Spotlight’, the single and album opener kicks is a track that many musicians can relate to. It’s about the anxiety and desire for success along with the love and hate relationship of being up on stage with the spotlight focused on you.

Coming from Iran, the two founding members of Heterochrome have had a myriad of challenges to overcome through the years. One of the outlets they utilize to express these feelings is through music. The latest single off their upcoming album From the Ashes tells two of these stories as they share: “’Time’s Up’ consists of two stories about the difficulties of love and the emotional devastation that comes from it. The first part deals with a deep sorrow from the mentioned devastation in Arash’s life, and the second part recalls a memory from Mida. Arash wrote this song shortly after a life changing period of time and brought it forward, even though it sounded different than their previous work, sounding a lot more simple and raw. Mida’s life story sounds like something out of a telenovela! A very progressive one, but a telenovela all the same.”
