Conquer Divide have just revealed their latest single, ‘Bad Dreams’ featuring Michigan metalcore heroes Of Virtue. The song combines Conquer Divide’s ability to mix luscious and captivating vocals and hooks with their crushing intensity, both musically and lyrically, on this introspective slab of inner turmoil, which is complemented by Of Virtue’s vocalists Tyler Ennis and Damon Tate’s melodic turned raging contributions.

Talking about the personal tones of the song, guitarist Izzy Johnson says,”We are stoked to bring the next era of Conquer Divide with our new song ‘Bad Dreams ft Of Virtue’. Lyrically it touches on the feeling of wanting nothing more than to succeed but being sabotaged by your own thoughts. Analysis paralysis is real and creates cycles that sometimes feel unbreakable, something that we have all individually experienced. Just like our other songs ‘Paralyzed,’ ‘Pressure’ and ‘N E W H E A V E N’ (that also have introspective themes), we hope this song is something our listeners can relate to and find comfort in. Big thanks to the guys in Of Virtue who made the song come alive, we are blessed to create music alongside such talent.”

Of Virtue’s Tyler Ennis adds, “I’ve been a fan of Conquer Divide ever since I heard ‘Messy’. It’s an absolute honor being asked to bring both our bands together on their newest single and we’re excited for it to finally be released!”

Italian power/gothic metal band Risen Crow returns with their second single, ‘Believe In Me’, from the upcoming album Requiem For A Damned Love, dropping February 28 from Rockshots Records.

‘Believe In Me’ is an anthem of trust, inner turmoil, and connection, blending symphonic textures, intricate guitars, and emotive vocals. Concept-driven, haunting, and melodic, this single sets the tone for a journey through obsession, madness, and the destructive power of love. The music video delivers a cinematic experience, perfectly complementing the emotional depth of the track. Don’t miss it! Let Risen Crow take you into their world of powerful storytelling and atmospheric metal.

LA musician Madison Violett has released her powerful debut single ‘Circling.’ Madison says, “‘Circling’ is about realizing that it’s okay to acknowledge that people have hurt you, and that’s the first step to recognizing that you are above the ones who have wronged you. You are so much more than the people who have put you down- and after all, their words are just words. The fact that people are trying to bring you down confirms that they’re intimidated by your resilience and strength. What I want to convey to all my listeners is to stay strong. Keep your head up and don’t let anyone dim your flame. Don’t stop chasing what you’re after.”

Swedish hard rockers, Thundermother, are premiering a new music video for their latest single ‘Can’t Put Out the Fire’. The charismatic rock quartet is releasing their new studio album titled Dirty & Divine on February 7, 2025 via AFM Records.

In a gesture of solidarity with friends and fans in Southern California the band says: “Our hearts go out to the City of Angels. We love you Los Angeles and know you will come back stronger than ever. This song was written and recorded last year and we hope everyone can still enjoy it.”

LUNA KILLS have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Leech,’ is taken from the Finnish alternative metalcore band’s upcoming debut album, DEATHMATCH, which is scheduled to be released in April this year, via SharpTone Records.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen says, “’Leech’ is a raw depiction of battling depression and thoughts of self harm” vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen explains. “Its lyrics portray the denial and avoidance of facing the depths of the illness, even as it spirals out of control. Ultimately it conveys the painful understanding of staying in that place, where fear and self-hatred have entwined so tightly with one’s identity that they seem impossible to separate. The song was one of the last few we wrote for the album, and the music came together in a more relaxed and joyful manner than the lyrics might suggest. It’s one of those songs that came together quickly because everyone instantly connected with the melodies and rhythms and had a shared vision for it.” [via Distorted Sound]

DAWN OF OUROBOROS have announced a new album. Titled Bioluminescence, the upcoming album from the Oakland, California-based progressive black metal band is the follow-up to 2023’s Velvet Incandescence, and is scheduled to be released in March this year, via Prosthetic Records.

The upcoming album was primarily self recorded before the mixing was handled by Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton, UK, and mastering by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering in Manchester, UK. Additional engineering was then completed by Nick Loiacono at Fang Studios in San Mateo, before the ethereal artwork was crafted by Alex Eckman Lawn.

Alongside the announcement of the new album, DAWN OF OUROBOROS have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; the title track ‘Bioluminescence.’

Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “the ocean has always been a major inspiration for us as a band, but this song is the first where we’ve directly composed something about it. Particularly, it’s about the chemical process found in many deep-sea animals called bioluminescence. We wanted the title track to be an introduction to the more adventurous vibe of the overall album. To create something that pushed ourselves into a more progressive area of our creativity, while still maintaining the emotional intensity and melodic sensibilities the represents the qualities of our music that are so important to us as a band.” [via Distorted Sound]

Deathless Legacy has released a video for ‘Miserere’, first single taken from the new album, Damnatio Aeterna, to be released on March 7 by Scarlet Records.

Directed by Frater Orion, the video translates the dark and provocative theme of the track into images: a confession turned into an obsessive and disturbing ritual, where the line between redemption and sin dissolves. With haunting atmospheres and powerful visual symbolism, the video for ‘Miserere’ offers an interpretation of the twisted relationship between sin and salvation, immersing the viewer in a cathartic experience.
Aligned, your new favorite Gothenburg-based purveyor of both earworms and riffs, is now streaming their new single ‘Elysian’. The single comes alongside a video by Linda Florin and music produced, mixed, and mastered by Jonathan Thorpenberg at Welfare Sounds.

On the single itself, Aligned offered: “‘Elysian’ is the first in a series of singles to be released during 2025 and marks a leap forward for Aligned, merging the raw intensity of metalcore with subtle touches of melodic metal and a haunting sense of melancholy.” [via Metal Injection]

German-based alternative outfit SEVEN BLOOD have released their brand new single and music video for ‘Monsters’, produced by Anfy Hartmann, mixed by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Holding Absence, Bury Tomorrow) and mastered by Dick Beetham. The track follows the release of their previous single ‘As We Bleed’, the cathartic ‘House ≠ Home’ and their debut release ‘Killing From The Inside’, all of which are available for streaming now.

Channelling SEVEN BLOOD’s most technical influences – notably Architects and Bring Me The Horizon – ‘Monsters’ is as heavy thematically as it is sonically. “’Monsters’ is about the demons that haunt you, and pull you down in dark moments,” vocalist Azaria Nasiri states. “It’s a song that for me is about what it means to be haunted by depression, but I think everyone will be able to relate to the monsters hiding in their own story.”

For guitarist Oli Arnold, the song strikes a particularly personal chord. “When I was about thirteen years old, my best friend died very suddenly,” he reveals. “The tragedy of that moment has shaped my life more than any other. I began suffering from panic attacks, and my parents weren’t capable of handling that situation. For a long time I didn’t feel connected to people. My childhood ended that day. It’s only now that I’m really able to begin to process that experience and to write about its impact on me.”

Nu metal from Warsaw? It’s been a while! Screeching scratches, building riffs, pissed-off raps—.bHP is back with their new single ‘Roadblock,’ and it’s pure energy to fuel your week. Two years after their self-titled album, this Warsaw band storms in, proving nu metal is still alive and kicking.

This track is a raw mix of anger and shifting dynamics, flowing like an energy drink straight into your brain. The riffs hit hard with rising aggression, while Asia’s vocals swing between melody and pure fury. Filipek and 44 tear it up on guitars, Martinez holds down the low end, and Igorek’s beats bring the punch. Bartek ties it all together with sharp, screeching scratches that give the sound that nostalgic nu metal edge.

The lyrics? Dirty, honest, and straight to the point: “There is a roadblock and we cannot solve it / It goes all the way down the road, pointless.” It’s a song about frustration—hitting walls that keep you from moving forward—but also about not backing down. It channels rage with a mix of self-awareness and brutal truth. [via Idioteq]

Not Enough Space‘s new track ‘Solace In Silence’ tackles themes of mental health, suicide awareness and coping with loss.

Explaining more about how these issues are revealed in the song, the band have shared: “‘Solace In Silence’ is a song dedicated to mental health, suicide awareness and the lasting impact on loved ones. The lyrical content explores the concept of losing yourself and wanting the voices in your head to silence themselves. Hence the title, ‘Solace In Silence.’ The track explores the aftermath of losing a loved one to suicide and the dangers of alcoholism as a means to cope with loss.” [via Rock Sound]

Two years after releasing their critically acclaimed full-length titled, Black & Gold, the Swedish rock ’n’ metal powerhouse Thundermother is getting ready to drop their much-awaited, sixth studio album titled, Dirty & Divine. The record is set for release on February 7, 2025 on AFM Records. Thundermother are premiering a spine-chilling music video for their latest single, the anthemic rock juggernaut ‘Dead or Alive’. The band comments: “With “Dead or Alive” we’re exploring the feeling of emptiness that sometimes come after a warm summer moving into the fall. We’re asking the question “what do I do with my life, now that the darkness is upon me for eight months?” We’re don’t have any answers, but we hope that our fans can connect with that feeling and that “Dead or Alive” can be a song for those who are asking themselves that same question.”

Dutch symphonic metal titans EPICA have released a brand new single, ‘Arcana’. The track heralds a new chapter in EPICA’s two-decade-long history and marks the band’s first new release since the group’s chart-topping 2021 album Omega and the collaboration EP The Alchemy Project. It offers a glimpse into the band’s future music, coming in 2025. EPICA comments: “‘Arcana’ guides you through the universal stages of spiritual evolution in life. It leads the way to a higher consciousness and spiritual self-awareness. Writing this song was a spontaneous effort, so it came together quickly, which felt so natural that it wrote itself. The music contains classic EPICA elements but has some vibes that might remind you of ’80s alternative rock or modern metal.” [via Blabbermouth]

Birmingham UK based noisemongers Vanitas release ‘Wait And See’, their last single from a very impressive 2024. They pronounced earlier this year that “Vanitas return matured and dangerous, promising to deliver their heaviest release yet”. Said release was their musclebound Chaos Theory EP. Vanitas proclaim that “’Wait And See’ is an epic anthem, exploring the duality of excitement and anxiety of trusting an unknown future, out now.” [via Planet Mosh]

VUKOVI have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Misty Ecstasy’, is taken from the Scottish alternative band’s upcoming new album, My God Has Got A Gun, which is scheduled to be released in January next year, via SharpTone Records. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Janine Shilstone shares, “the most fun/tongue-in-cheek song we’ve created. We wanted to put out something that could cut through a very dark and uncertain time for this day and age. Sex should be fun and safe without judgement. OUR BODY OUR CHOICE.” [via Distorted Sound]

Poppy’s new album, Negative Spaces, is finally here, and it comes with the post-genre auteur’s most extreme and crushing song yet: ‘the center’s falling out.’ The album’s pre-release singles have showcased the record’s range — from the neon-soaked synth-pop of ‘crystallized’ to the dynamic metalcore of ‘they’re all around us.’ But ‘the center’s falling out’ is a different and more dangerous beast entirely. Raging from start to finish, it puts even Poppy’s Grammy-nominated turn with Knocked Loose, ‘Suffocate,’ to the heaviness test. The song — which was co-written by House of Protection’s Stephen Harrison (formerly of Fever 333 and the Chariot) — arrived accompanied with a sick performance video in which Poppy throws down in Argento-esque red fog while being surreally filmed by herself.
Wormholedeath is thrilled to announce the signing of the French modern metal force, PYRAH. The band’s highly anticipated album, Veni Vidi Delevi, is set to obliterate the senses on September 20. Check out the video for ‘My Only Solace’ below.

Rockshots Records and Lay Of The Autumn are excited to announce the release of their second single, ‘Flowing Tears’ from their highly anticipated album Of Love And Sorrow due out on October 25. Lay Of The Autumn is a new Symphonic Power Metal band led by Davide Scuteri (Ravenword, Choirs Of Veritas) featuring Iryna Boyarkina (ERIA, Mysterya), Michele Olmi (Chronosfear, Embrace Of Souls), Cesare Ferrari and Davide Lovecchio. Their debut album, featuring 10 emotionally charged tracks, merges the intensity of Power Metal with the grandeur of Symphonic Metal creating a deeply evocative listening experience. ‘Flowing Tears’ is a standout piece that encapsulates the full spectrum of the band’s sound, blending sorrow with beauty in a way that is uniquely Lay Of The Autumn.

Two years since the release of their last studio album Black & Gold, the Swedish quartet Thundermother reveal the first details surrounding their upcoming new studio album titled, Dirty & Divine. It is slated for release on February 7, 2025 via AFM Records. A blistering onslaught of loud, proud and gritty hard rock, Dirty & Divine marks the start of a new era for Thundermother. This album showcases the Thundermother recording debut for both frontwoman Linnea Vikström Egg and for drummer Joan Massing. Dirty & Divine also welcomes bassist Majsan Lindberg back into the fold. Bigger, bolder and more dynamic than ever before, the Swedes return as an upgraded and remotivated force! Now the rock goddesses unleash a new music video for their latest single, the anthemic album opener: ‘So Close.’ Guitarist and founding member Filippa Nässil reveals: “‘So Close’ was so close to not being included on the album. But when we recorded it live in the studio after all the other songs were done, it turned out so well that it made it across the finish line. It seems we might have stumbled upon a hit.”

Delain have just released a new single and video, ‘Dance With The Devil,’ following last year’s Dark Waters album. The song is the title-track from an upcoming EP – due out on November 8 via Napalm – which also includes two more new songs, two ‘newly-presented favourites’ with their latest band line-up, nine live tracks and two instrumentals. “We’re thrilled to have brand new material ready to be released!” enthuses Martijn Westerholt. “In addition to the new songs, it was fantastic to have captured some magical live moments of our European tour earlier this year as live tracks for the EP. We’re definitely very excited for this release and are really looking forward to bringing the new music to the stage!” Martijn also shares of their newest single: “We’re really excited and eager to share this new Delain song with the world. It captures the recognisable and signature sound of Delain but with a fresh and modern touch.” [via Kerrang!]

ENTHEOS have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘A Thousand Days,’ is taken from the American progressive death metal band’s upcoming new EP, An End To Everything, which is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Metal Blade Records. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Chaney Crabb says, “lyrically, ‘A Thousand Days’ is a song about feeling as if you‘re on the edge of life and death. In writing ‘A Thousand Days’, we wanted to focus on a more ‘mellow’ death metal vibe and simultaneously incorporate some elements of grunge and pitched screaming in the chorus.” [via Distorted Sound]

Beyond the Pale, the death/thrash metal outfit from the Netherlands with a pinch of black, and brimmed with soul-purging riffs, is unstoppable. The band just dropped a new music video, this time filled with feisty pirates for the track ‘Walk the Plank’. Following ‘The Age of the Pariah,’ ‘Storm en Drift’ and the remix for ‘Facts and Figures’ by acclaimed Japanese musician Frost (Gods of Decay; Godfrost), ‘Walk the Plank’ is the fourth single released by Beyond The Pale from their debut EP Monument in Time. ‘Walk the Plank’ depicts a narrative of rebellion and resistance against a corrupt and oppressive authority, particularly targeting women. The lyrics describe the struggles of those trapped in a system dominated by unfair and unjust individuals. ‘Walk the Plank’ is a powerful call for resistance and (female) empowerment, with individuals standing up to their oppressors. The pirates symbolize their fighting spirit and determination to reclaim control of their own destiny. [via Click Roll Boom]

After teasing the single for a little while now, Hot Milk have just shared their vulnerable, standalone new song and video, ‘Where Does The Light Get In?’. The track is the band’s first new music since last year’s A CALL TO THE VOID, with Han Mee describing it as “its own beast that came from a place of great torment and suffering. Matters of the heart are rarely touched by our band but after the last year put me into a place I never wish to return I couldn’t not write this song. It was a necessity.” “Sadness doesn’t last forever, but when it consumes you it feels like it’s there for eternity,” adds Jim Shaw. “Essentially this song is a cry out for a change in circumstances. It’s hard seeing someone close to you in pain and feeling powerless to change it. I wanted to exacerbate the vulnerability of this song so I began as stripped back as I could, me and a piano, and played what you can hear as soon as the song starts. We wanted the lyrics to come across almost like a prayer so we brought in the girls in Espera to record a choir and act as the response in the chorus.” [via Kerrang!]

Following some online teasing, Spiritbox have just shared their first new music of 2024 Entitled ‘Soft Spine,’ this genuinely crushing new track from the Canadian metalcore crew follows last year’s The Fear Of Fear EP – and is potentially a very exciting hint at their long-awaited second album… Who knows?
Memoremains releases new music. In the spring, the single ‘Toxic Girl’ opened a new era for Memoremains which continues now with a new release, the tight pop metal song ‘Stuck’. “The song, as its name suggests, is about being stuck. Society offers us a lot of expectations about how and in what order things should be done in life, but they don’t always feel like our own or essential. While others are moving forward in their lives, it may sometimes feel like they themselves are stuck. I hope the song provides peer support for those who are frustrated by the expectations of others and to act as an encouragement to make their own choices,” says Johanna Ahonen.

THUNDERMOTHER, the acclaimed Swedish queens of rock ‘n’ metal burst into the new year with a fury-filled new single aptly titled ‘Speaking of The Devil.’ Founding member and guitarist, Filippa Nässil says: “The new single is written by Linnéa and I, recorded live in Medley Studios with our long time, great friend and producer Søren Andersen. It’s a very bad ass song that we’re all proud of. I can’t wait to play this live on our upcoming ”15 Years of Rock” tour kicking off in Sweden this February.”

NØ MAN and Iodine Recordings are proud to announce the new album Glitter and Spit, due out March 29. On their third full-length album, the Washington DC band affirm their essential presence as a necessary voice in modern hardcore. Singer Maha Shami has fully come into her own as a front person, snarling out the most vicious vocals of her career. As the daughter of refugees, a recent return home to Palestine included witnessing first-hand the casual atrocities inflicted on her family. Though written before the current conflict’s boiling point, Glitter and Spit synthesizes the 70+ years of systemic violence carried out against Palestine and her own lived experiences. Along with today’s album announcement, the band and Iodine Recordings share the lead single and title track ‘Glitter and Spit’. “‘Glitter and Spit’ is about the distortion of one’s lived experience and existence, dealing with people imposing a version of you that meets the expectations of their fantasy. These attempts to shape and define your life often romanticize the idea of an angry woman until you disrupt their status quo.” says Maha Shami.

Rising from the ruins of the past few years, QUEEN LAYA is emerging into uncharted waters, defying expectations as she demonstrates a ferocious new sound. Now she has unveiled the official music video for her new single ‘RAGE’. Fusing powerhouse vocals with rocky acidity, QUEEN LAYA continues to usher in a new era of headstrong and vehement views of social issues and every day life. She shares her experiences of going through therapy in 2021 within her music and her empowering new single ‘RAGE’ is a pivotal point of this process. QUEEN LAYA delves into the context of the track, “‘RAGE’ is about suppressing your emotions so that you appear smaller to others, well behaved to others, in compliance with others, liked by others – to create a safe space within yourself, until all your thoughts and feelings are so congested that you can’t even fathom keeping in even a single ounce of these emotions within you. This intense energy eventually manifests itself into uncontrollable rage.”

Without Warning, the new promising Finnish modern metal act which opened recent live shows for Fear Of Domination among others, has released their 6th single called ‘New Order’ with a music video. The single is a provocative dive into the destruction of humanity. ‘New Order’ takes its listeners to a dystopian world where the machine pulse gets fused with heavy electronic and melodic elements. With the new single, the band also showcases their updated look in their outfits which has grown to become a noticeable element. “As I was writing the song, I wanted to support the band’s concept while showcasing our heavier and dramatic sides. With the familiar melodic elements that have become staples in our music, this song roams through chaotic atmospheres that also support the lyrical themes of the song,” says bassist and producer, Aleksi Rintala. ‘New Order’ provides a strong musical experience, but also awakens you to ponder how technology affects our society. The single can also be described as a soundtrack from an anxiety-filled future, where artificial intelligence birthed by mankind wants to create a new start by tyranny. Along with the strong lyrics, Without Warning has been able to create a unique atmosphere that sticks to the listener. “The single is a song about our concept in Without Warning, where we view the story from three different angles. We have built a fictional backstory and theme for the band where an evil artificial intelligence named Omega wants to destroy humankind to build a new future. We, the members of the band, use the term “disciples” when referring to ourselves and we are the creation of Omega. The messengers. In ‘New Order’ you can hear the desperate realization the humankind faces, Omega’s bittersweet thirst for revenge and the disciple’s final warning for what is to come,” describes the vocalist, Michaela “Micha” Tuomenoksa.

Self-described “Harajuku-core” phenoms HANABIE. are one of the most buzzed-about metal bands in the world right now, winning cosigns from heavy-hitters like Limp Bizkit, Slash and Bring Me the Horizon, and regularly selling out shows. The Tokyo quartet’s latest single is ‘OTAKU Lovely Densetsu,’ which was released last week and hails the culture of “Otaku,” a Japanese word for people obsessed with anime, manga and video games. The single also got its music video, which matches the song’s chaotic metalcore sound with equally over-the-top visuals. Vocalist Yukina commented: “I wanted to write a song to express my gratitude to all the fans, staff, and bands that I met and played with on our world tour, and to express what I felt on the tour. One of the things I felt was ‘Japanese culture, such as anime and video games, is truly loved’! We love Japanese culture, but not only about Japanese culture, this is a chaotic and Harajuku-core-like song that makes you think it’s cool to be faithful and straight up to what you like.” Guitarist-vocalist Matsuri added, “‘OTAKU Lovely Densetsu’ is a chaotic song that focuses on anime and games that are part of Japanese culture. You shine brightest when you’re into what you love and just being Otaku. Otaku is not just in Japan but also overseas too so be confident being Otaku! This song is just freestyle and doing what we want, so please enjoy this HANABIE. world! Japan culture rocks!” [via Revolver]

Spaced have announced their debut album This Is All We Ever Get, due out this March via Revelation Records. Spaced call themselves “far out hardcore” due to their guitarist’s affinity for throwing flange and phaser effects over their traditional hardcore distortion, giving their songs a slightly psych-ier feel compared to the average hardcore band. That, combined with frontperson Lexi Reyngoudt’s electric screams, make for a pretty unique sound that fans of Turnstile, Buggin, and GEL can certainly get down with. In the video for ‘Landslide,’ the band teach a mosh aerobics class that’s styled like a vintage exercise video from the 1980s. It’s a lot of fun, and you can watch and listen above via YouTube. [via Revolver]

It’s exhilarating when you get to hear a band execute a style perfectly. Hand of Kalliach delivers folk-infused melodic death metal in the absolute best way possible. The band brings heavy and rich guitar tones and weaves them with a mix of harsh and melodic vocals, topped off with infectious rhythms and traditional instrumentation. It’s a fascinating combination of aggression and atmosphere — a balancing act between power and mystery that draws you into the band’s sonic realm. Out noe is the band’s new video for the song ‘Fell Reigns,’ from their upcoming album Corryvreckan, due out on February 23 via Prosthetic Records. Vocalist and bassist Sophie says: “Building upon the legend of the Cailleach, the ancient witch god of winter from Scottish Celtic mythology, with Fell Reigns, we wanted to explore her seasonal rise to power at Samhainn (the end of summer and beginning of winter) from a different perspective – that of one of her unnamed eight attendants, that assist her in ushering in winter.” [via Decibel Mag]

ALTERIUM have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Crossroads Inn,’ is taken from the Italian power metal band’s upcoming debut album, Of War And Flames, which is scheduled to be released in March this year. The new song is a metal tribute inspired by the popular medieval tavern simulator video game. In cooperation with video game creator Klabater, the following statement has been released, “welcome to Delcrys, adventurers! The doors of the fantasy tavern are now open! To celebrate the arrival of the second chapter of the iconic video game Crossroads Inn, ALTERIUM wrote and recorded a track inspired by the lore of the game. Crossroads Inn is a real-time management sim set in the immersive fantasy world of Delcrys. Players must build, manage, and expand their tavern, catering to the needs of adventurers from far and wide! The game is available on Steam, while Crossroads Inn 2 has been announced and is currently in development – you can already add it to your wishlist!” Singer and songwriter Nicoletta Rosellini adds, “I’m a huge fan of management video games, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing Crossroads Inn, which also features great lore that inspired me to write lyrics for this track. I believe that power metal is the perfect genre to convey the funny atmosphere of a typical night at the tavern. We also recreated the whole scenery in our new music video!” [via Distorted Sound]

Visions of Atlantis are set to release their upcoming studio album, Pirates, on May 13 via Napalm Records. Now the band release the second single ‘Melancholy Angel’ – a song that has already proven to be one of the fan favorites, when played live during the ongoing US tour. The single comes together with a stunning official video, including great visual effects and outstanding acting by the band around singer Clémentine Delauney, who has clearly developed further vocally and has both beautiful high tones and deeper more soulful colorings in her vocal repertoire. The mighty new single ‘Melancholy Angel’ is representative of the new Visions of Atlantis sound, who with Pirates, reveal their most honest and intimate album to date.
Hungary’s promising melodic metal formation Esperfall have released their debut album Origins In Darkness. The album presents the initial phase of the human soul’s journey as it forces itself to face its inner demons. As with every dark phase in our lives, this state is the starting point of a deep, spiritual journey and self-discovery. Every song is an echo of a major emotional issue vocalized with self-criticism, doubt and fear, fueled with anger and disbelief, oftentimes directed towards our society. These are the battles we have to face in our everyday lives. This song, ‘Tempest In Paradise’ sounds more positive compared to the other tracks on the album, although it describes a rather hopeless situation. This is the moment in the protagonist’s life when everything collapses, there is nothing left to hold on to and she has lost what has been the most important to her so far. Nevertheless, the hope and the will to fight at all costs remain to create everything on her own. Until now everything has been an illusion. Compared to the previously released music video (‘Retreat Into Dreamland’) this song highlights another side of the band. The pace remains the same, however this song is much more on the melodic side and Nonee presents only clean vocals this time as opposed to the harsh vocals that can be found in the previous single. It’s a real power metal song from start to finish, so hopefully — but not only — oldschool Avantasia, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius fans will like this one. [via Metal Goddesses]

FlowerLeaf are back and they are ready to start their Dreamerie journey. As a forerunner, they just released a brand new single along with a music video called ‘The Storm’. ‘The Storm’ is the first single from the Dreamerie – Chapter I: Time. It’s a song about self-confidence, fighting for what you want and fulfilling your destiny. “It was an amazing experience recording The Storm because it gave FlowerLeaf a new dimension and it gives us lots of possibilities for what we can create in the future,” singer Vivs Takahashi says.
Seven Kingdoms have released the first single, ‘Universal Terrestrial’, from their upcoming full-length album Zenith. The music video for ‘Universal Terrestrial’ was filmed during the crowdfunding campaign, which raised over $50,000 on Kickstarter. Zenith will see a June 17 release via Distortion Music Group. 7K guitarist Camden Cruz says: “We are very excited to release the first song from Zenith! We are packing this one up, and two more new songs with us for the Beast in Black tour that starts this week! We will actually be shooting the music video for ‘Chasing the Mirage’ while we are on tour! We had a great time filming this song a few months ago with our main man, Jimmy Garcia.
Following their latest, chart-breaking album Heat Wave, Sweden’s heavy rock band Thundermother has unleashed a brand new song taken of their upcoming album Black And Gold. ‘Watch Out’ showcases the band’s adrenaline-fuelled, high voltage sound of powerful, filthy yet catchy rock ‘n’ roll they are known and loved for: Creating infectious party rock songs with an irresistible feelgood appeal! Guitarist Filippa Nässil reveals: ”We are stoked to present you our first single ‘Watch Out’ from our upcoming album Black And Gold; The song is about us in our careers right now about rising up, being powerful woman working as a team and taking charge. We are so proud and we hope our music will inspire many people. Don’t let anybody mess with your dreams.” [via Metal Goddesses]

Giant Walker release their fifth and final single, ‘Katoomba’ ahead of their debut album All In Good Time which will be released May 13. ‘Katoomba’ opens with a menacing guitar riff that undulates with an intricate, yet powerful drum groove. The energetic track is complemented by a hooky and captivating chorus that leaves you reaching to crank up the volume. Guitarist Jamie explains, “‘Katoomba’ was actually the first song that we wrote for the album and, whilst we try and bring a different vibe to all of our songs, we feel that ’Katoomba’ really summarises the sound of Giant Walker. Lyrically, it captures the essence of how we felt at the time – trying to stay sane in the first lockdown. Funnily enough, the song was actually named after a trip to the Blue Mountains, Katoomba in Australia, as that’s where I purchased the fuzz pedal which inspired the initial riff.” [via Metal Goddesses]

Hardcore x thrash crossover band Cage Fight have dropped the new single ‘Killer.’ Bassist Jon Reid explains, “‘Killer’ is a release of anger and fury directed at anyone that has caused wrong and is a rallying cry to those that feel pure visceral rage and need a soundtrack to that pure emotion.
Darkness Surrounding is a five-piece metal band from Wuppertal, Germany, that was founded in 2017. Their musical style is best described as Melodic Metal, influenced by Death, Core and Old School. Fast riffs, epic melodic parts and groovy breakdowns create a powerful and versatile sound. The voices of growler Tim and guitarist/clean-singer Kessi complement those attributes very well. The ban had this to say about their new song ‘Nocturnal Forest Air’: “We recorded this song as a part of our album in the legendary Maarweg Studios, Cologne, Germany. ‘Nocturnal Forest Air’ – a tragic and stirring waltz that tells the story of a young woman who had to deal with being constantly stressed and pressurized her whole life by a person in her close environment. As she grows up, she finally realizes that this person is the reason for her agony and plans to take revenge. With the lyrics being quite dark, we decided the song had to be a waltz because it would portray and frame the story in the most fitting way. The song is supposed to feel like a journey through all the emotions the protagonist goes through, really making it an experience to listen to the song. Through the music video we gave the whole story a new twist, that does not necessarily come across when just hearing the song, so watching the video is definitely worth it!” [via Metal Goddesses]

Los Angeles based alternative metal band, Motive Black has released their new single ‘Lift Me Up’. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend), the track focuses on the talents of newcomer Elana Justin, and features special guest Carla Harvey, of the internationally acclaimed metal band Butcher Babies, on vocals. The single features Justin performing together with Butcher Babies’ Carla Harvey. Elana Justin explains: “the song is about realizing that you can’t find validation through other people. It’s easy to fall into the trap of avoidance, and trying to distract yourself from the growth you require by looking for love in all the wrong places. Facing inward can be truly difficult, but through that journey you find empowerment.” Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies) concurs stating “I love collaborating with strong women on projects so when I was asked to add my vocals to ‘Lift Me Up,’ I happily obliged. The result…an infectious tune, and a new found friendship!” [via Metal Goddesses]

Sonically, ‘Every Hill A Tomb’ does a great job mixing the trippier elements of death metal with a heaping spoonful of progressive metal. “We are excited to unveil our first single with our new vocalist, Sarah Hartman,” said Aversed in a statement. “The artistic chemistry has been incredible and we hope you welcome her into this new era of our band and our songwriting. We wrote ‘Every Hill a Tomb’ to not only showcase our new direction with Sarah at the helm, but to process the grief we have all experienced these past few years. We explore a depersonalization into death and the afterlife, with the music and lyrics portraying the simultaneous grandeur and anxiety of infinite time.
Texas-based industrial metal group Daedric releases their anticipated third single ‘Dawnbreaker’ with an alluring official music video overlaid with a vocal performance that dashes between brutal and ethereal, industrial guitars, pulsing electronics, and heavy rhythm. ‘Dawnbreaker’ pushes the boundaries into even heavier territory for the band and is another triumphant chapter in the Daedric saga. “During production, we basically said “how heavy could we go if we really just went for it,” says Daedric. “And compared to other Daedric songs, the production elements actually came together pretty easy.
Lydia’s Castle drops their newest single ‘Search For You’. The hard-hitting track was penned as a form of therapy for vocalist Tonya LeeAnne, who hopes to share her feelings of deep, personal loss with listeners. “’Search For You’ is about one of the greatest losses of my life, and I wanted to channel that pain into something creative that can be shared with others and help myself, the band and so many others know they are not alone” says Tonya LeeAnne. “The great thing about music and good lyrics is that the listener can make the song their own, and become attached to it in their own way, which is exactly how I got into music to begin with.”

US rock giants Icon For Hire return with new gritty single ‘Ready For Combat’, alongside a high-powered music video. ‘Ready For Combat’ is the first cut from their upcoming new album released in partnership with Kartel Music Group. Describing the song as “a punch in the face”, lead singer Ariel Bloom says: “I’m demanding a fight, insisting that my demons come out to meet me. It actually feels amazing to acknowledge this angrier side of me. As women we often don’t have the space and freedom to do that, so it feels good to create some space with this song”. “It’s pure aggression from the start!”, adds Shawn, “it doesn’t have a lot of the bells and whistles we usually incorporate in our song”.
