Buzzing Brooklyn rapper and co-founder of rapidly rising hip-hop collective 41, Jenn Carter, unleashes a new single and music video entitled ‘Reverse’ featuring 2Rare via RiteOrWrongKVH Entertainment/Republic Records. Switching gears sonically, the track layers an ethereal loop above drill-style 808s before the momentum gives way to a bumping Jersey Club-style rhythm. Against this backdrop, Jenn’s punchy flow and braggadocious bars instantly make a mark. Philadelphia phenomenon 2Rare pulls up with a scorching verse of his own as the song culminates on a chantable hook. The visual matches this energy as Jenn and 2Rare turn up surrounded by friends and no shortage of drip.

Lola Brooke’s 2023 is off to a seriously impressive start. She began by collaborating with Maiya The Don on the remix of Flo Milli’s ‘Conceited,’ which came shortly before a solo effort called ‘So DISRESPECTFUL.’ For her latest release, Brooke shared ‘Just Relax’, much to her fan’s pleasure. As REVOLT notes, the Reefa and Teddy Da Don-produced beat samples Black Sheep’s ‘The Choice Is Yours,’ taking us back in time. To match those vibes, the New Yorker filmed a throwback-inspired video, directed by Shanghaii, which sees her letting loose at a house party with plenty of friends. [via HNHH]

With a distinct style that blends hip-hop and dancehall in a seamless manner, Leicester rap artist Trillary Banks returns to the forefront with her new single ‘Bruce Lee’. As the title suggests, it is a pure showcase of bravado, encased with Trillary’s unique patois-infected flow and unapologetic lyrics. Once again, she teams up with longtime collaborator Maschine man Tim who cooks up this gritty flute-laden bass-heavy drill soundscape that is tailor-made for Trillary’s energetic performance. The accompanying visuals also accentuate the track with its blend of performance shots of Trillary with her squad running the streets and also capturing some shots in the gym. We see Trillary in both streetwear and a karate gi as she exudes an unfiltered demeanour while fully expressing herself. [via Earmilk]

Baby Tate and Saweetie team up in the colorful video for the remix of Tate’s 2016 single ‘Hey, Mickey!’ The original found Tate lamenting a love interest’s noncommital ways with a twist on Toni Basil’s 1981 hit. After the original went viral on TikTok, Tate tapped Saweetie to add her own flippant verse. Meanwhile, the video, which appears to be set in a Polly Pocket-like miniature universe, sees the two rappers clubbing and taking a plush road trip in the back of a pickup truck. [via Uproxx]
