Annie Taylor release their new single and video ‘Something Ain’t Right’. The track is taken from their upcoming third album Out Of Scale.
On Out of Scale, the band have further developed their sound. The band’s first album, Sweet Mortality, brought them international fame, seemingly out of nowhere. They recorded their second album, Inner Smile in the U.K. It was rougher, more honest. Now they have sharpened their style once again. Each song sounds different yet inevitably follows on from the next. Distorted guitar and empowering grunge rage are followed by repetitive psychedelia. Then there’s a thoughtful, almost quiet song. Somewhere between Courtney Barnett and Wet Leg.
“’Something Ain’t Right’ starts with that kind of weird feeling, you just can’t shake off,” say the band. “Somewhere between jet lag, passing encounters, and unspoken expectations, things start to feel off. The song keeps pushing forward, letting doubt and a sense of being overwhelmed hang in the air instead of trying to resolve them. There’s a tension between wanting to pull back and feeling like you have to keep going. It’s about acknowledging vulnerability without getting stuck in it.”
