Rising alt-pop visionary, Au/Ra announces the release of her highly- anticipated debut album, heartcore out on June 26 on Polydor Records and shares new single, ‘KILLSWITCH’.
Blending ethereal pop, electronica, 8-bit hyperpop and alt-rock, the captivating 16 track album follows a hero’s journey, as she descends into her own mind, each song a deeper step into a shifting labyrinth as she confronts themes of anxiety, identity and isolation.
Recorded between London and Los Angeles, heartcore sees Au/Ra collaborate with producers including Micah Jasper, King Ed, Halo Boy and Kill Dave, alongside co-writers Violet Skies, K.Flay, CYN and Hilda Stenmalm and more.
New single, ‘KILLSWITCH’ is a dark yet playful pop song about revenge and moving on, it opens with grungy, atmospheric production before bursting into a deceptively sweet, high-energy chorus, “And I’m so done carrying this baggage / Gonna make you disappear like magic,” she sings — before letting the memories she once shared with a character called THE MENTOR fade away. “’KILLSWITCH’ is about a conscious decision I made at some point to make the pain and anger stop,” Au/Ra explains.
