Australian outfit Body Type have shared ‘Sick Bag,’ the latest preview of their forthcoming album Tally, due for release on July 24 via p(doom) Records. Described by vocalist and guitarist Sophie McComish as one of the band’s most vulnerable songs to date, the track explores the fine line between devotion and self-erasure within an increasingly one-sided relationship.
While Body Type may have their roots in punk, ‘Sick Bag’ leans towards a more melodic post-punk sound. Conversational, almost spoken-style verses give the song an understated charm, allowing its sharp observations and dry humour to shine through. That deadpan delivery, which is also translated in the video, creates an intriguing contrast with the track’s emotional core, capturing the frustration and exhaustion of giving more than you’re getting while never losing its sense of personality.
Speaking about the song, McComish says: “It could be a beautiful thing, really. When someone loves you so hard it makes you feel sick. Someone make me spew!”
