Singer-songwriter and alt-pop artist Casey Conroy shares her highly anticipated new single, ‘Long Drive,’ available now on all streaming platforms via APOLLO Distribution.
A shimmering and introspective exploration of self-discovery, ‘Long Drive’ captures the quiet defiance of listening to your own voice in a world full of noise. Blending tender lyricism with lush alt-pop production, Conroy delivers a song that’s both cinematic and deeply personal —a portrait of someone caught between reason and desire, learning to choose instinct over expectation.
Written during a period of personal and creative transition, ‘Long Drive’ became a moment of clarity for Conroy: a way of reclaiming trust in herself after years of defining her worth through logic and responsibility. Musically, the track unfolds like a late-night road trip — atmospheric guitars, glowing synths, and soft percussion that build into a sweeping chorus, evoking the sense of open space and forward motion.
“I’ve always been good at figuring out the right thing to do, almost to the point where it feels like part of my identity,” Conroy shares. “But I realized I very rarely stop and ask myself, ‘What do I actually want?’ This song is me trying to flip that — not doing things because they’re the smartest move, but just because they feel good. Not in a toxic or overthought way, but trusting my own voice before it gets drowned out.
“A lot of times I write these songs about love stories, but more often than not, they’re reflections of what I’m going through internally,” she continues. “In ‘Long Drive,’ I talk about this girl who did something not because it was the ‘right’ thing to do, but because she wanted to. In a world with so many opinions and voices, she made a decision based on what felt good — and that’s something I’m still learning how to do.
“I’m realizing that coming of age isn’t something that happens once,” Conroy adds. “You keep learning who you are, over and over again. ‘Long Drive’ is part of that process — a moment of choosing to move forward, even if you don’t know exactly where you’re going.”
