Coco share brand new single ‘Omen’

The moody, ethereal threesome Coco debuted a rambunctious edge earlier this autumn — ‘Rough Water’ — and made their UK debut, headlining in London and playing End of The Road Festival.

Now, today Coco share ‘Omen’ — a song that feels emotionally haunted and sonically alien at once — ahead of their national tour supporting Kevin Morby. Coco say, “Wildfire season colors the sky every year with a warning: the Onceler is up to his usual tricks and we haven’t a Lorax to speak for the trees. ‘Omen’ is about this annual glimpse into the future – “Heavy hangs the sunshine / Yellow, thick, and unkind.” There’s a double meaning, though, riffing on omens in our personal lives – moments when the writing is on the wall. “Feel a pattern in me / Look away and stand over there / Still I see it everywhere, an omen”.

“Musically, we wanted the track to feel on one hand grounded in nature and reality (the guitar, campfire slow dance) and on the other hand alien and futuristic (the arpeggiating bloops and filtering drums). We hope you enjoy the melody!”
