After supporting pop legend Gabrielle and making waves at top UK festivals such as Truck Festival, 110 Above and Godiva Festival, harmony queen Eliza May explores the financial struggles of the modern age with her realistic, unfiltered track ‘Money’.
Known for her bubbly personality, unforgettably catchy lyrics and incredibly colourful hair, Eliza May is unapologetically speaking her mind with this new release. Using poetically sassy lyricism alongside playfully punchy instrumentation, ‘Money’ paints the picture of what it’s like to be an everyday person in today’s society. It’s about believing in yourself and what you want to achieve even when the cost of living is high and times are tough.
“Money is a song about empowerment and calling out the system,” says Eliza. “Like most people, when I was younger, I was sold the dream that if you work hard and get a job then be able to afford a nice house and live a great life. In this day and age, that script doesn’t seem to work anymore and I’m tired of everyone pretending it does. As a society we shouldn’t have to grind ourselves to the bone at work. We should be LIVING not just surviving and that is why I wrote ‘Money’; to shed light on the financial struggles that myself and many other people are facing in the modern age.”
Pivoting from her usual sugar sweet sound, Eliza takes inspiration from the likes of Olivia Dean, Ripe and Cassia to give us a bold, funky and relatably honest indie pop bop that leaves you wanting more.
