Empires in Orbit’s ‘Cat Eyes’ is a sinister bilingual slow-burn

Industrial rock duo Empires in Orbit continue to push genre boundaries with ‘Cat Eyes,’ the latest single from their forthcoming album Audiodrome. Blending industrial textures with trap-inspired production, the bilingual German-English track draws listeners into a dark, cinematic world that feels equal parts unsettling and irresistibly stylish. As the band explain, the song was inspired by the comic-book energy of Harley Quinn, “Psycho, mental ill but super sexy and cute.”

While industrial tones underpin the track, ‘Cat Eyes’ leans more heavily into its hypnotic trap influences. Fe Malefiz delivers a breathy, seductive vocal performance that flirts with the edge of unhinged, slipping effortlessly between whispered melodies and laid-back rap verses. The German vocals prove especially captivating, adding a sharpness and character that perfectly complement the song’s brooding atmosphere.

Echoing the abandoned, shadowy world of its accompanying video, ‘Cat Eyes’ unfolds with a slow-burning confidence rather than explosive intensity. Mysterious, playful and just a little dangerous, it’s a track that embraces its darker instincts while proving that sometimes the boldest musical choices are the ones worth taking.
