Manchester based Georgian continues to showcase her psychedelic western sound with new single and farewell to summer ‘Soleil’ out now via Heist or Hit.
Produced and recorded in Amsterdam by Arno Stols (Magenta Studios), new single ‘Soleil’ is a sonic swaddling that cradles a terrible loneliness. The dense, rhythmic fingerpicking echoes the underlaying rumblings of a macabre violence eased only by moonshine-soaked top lines and a honeyed vocal. Lyrically, the song uses the seasons as a metaphor for longing and the yearning for sunshine after summer comes to an end and the dark winter days take over.
Georgia says, “’Soleil’ is one of my favourite songs I’ve written and created. Musically, it explores a vintage yet familiar sound through the use of guitar bends, which helps to create the image of old summer holidays, the sunshine and deep oceans. It is a sound influenced in parts by Santo and Johnny, and even the earlier works of The Beach Boys.
“The songs protagonist is longing for the warmth of the sun back on her skin, the blue cloudless skies and the beautiful beaches, whilst she’s stuck within the cold, bleak, dark winter months. Overall, it’s simply about the longing for something or maybe someone better.”
