Planet Earth’s raging sister duo Girl Tones are fed up with cyclical disappointment on their new single ‘Again.’ Released today via Parallel Vision, the tense, endlessly-building track sees the band angry, but not surprised, when people repeatedly show their true colors. Having been compared to The White Stripes in their performance style, ‘Again’ is the product of a generation that was bred to use rock-and-roll as an outlet for constantly being let down and overlooked.
Produced by Brad Shultz and recorded at the culture-defining Nashville studio Battle Tapes, Girl Tones are establishing their singular sound with these early releases. They’re tired of action as well as inaction, sick of being in their heads and also letting it all out; it’s a contradiction that allows for a raw sense of escapism.
“‘Again’ is desperate, a cry for help,” shares Kenzie. “Just like how the verses repeat, the rhythms and melodies have an obsessive repetition.”
