Greta Isaac unleashes alter ego and announces new EP. Listen to new single ‘SOFT SCOOP TALKING DOG’

Welsh born, London living artist Greta Isaac announces her upcoming EP and alter ego Dolly Zoom, releasing August 8 via Kartel Music Group. Step into the twisted dreamworld of Dolly Zoom, a deliciously chaotic blend of early 2000s electronic pop, gritty rock edges, and gloriously over-the-top storytelling. Think euphoric synths, heavy-handed glitter, and lyrics that bite just as hard as they make you laugh. It’s pop music with too much eyeshadow and a mischievous glint in its eye.

Dolly, the character at the heart of it all, is a vocal chameleon that slips between personas with theatrical flair, sass, and just the right amount of menace. Inspired by everything from the high-concept gloss of Y2K music videos to the campy thrills of vintage horror movies, she’s like the long-lost fourth Powerpuff Girl, if she’d escaped the lab and discovered platform heels, chaos, and a killer stage presence.

Greta Isaac, together with longtime visual collaborator and friend Karina Barberis, developed Dolly, who they describe as ”a character of extremes. She is the mania that runs beneath a rationalised exterior; the vision you might have of screaming at someone you smile politely to instead, the thought you have of jumping off a high building but never doing it, the disturbed, hyper, playful, imaginative parts of us we subdue. Dolly Zoom is a character born out of restriction and ordinariness, a means of unleashing the messy parts of us that society wants us to conform to”.

As a glimpse of things to come, Greta today reveals first single ‘Soft Scoop Talking Dog’, a jumpstart and first glimpse into the world of Dolly Zoom. Described by Greta, in her own words, as a spinny headfuck that can’t quite be placed, she wrote the track alongside Martin Luke Brown, Mark Elliot, Matt Zara, and it was produced by Matt Zara and Dan Bartlett. As a nod to Greta’s roots, the accompanying visualiser features Welsh translated lyrics.

“Soft Scoop Talking Dog is our janky, explosive introduction to Dolly – born from the feeling of being trapped within a claustrophobic room of how we think we should look or behave or speak. Dolly kicks that door down, emerges from the chaos outside, grabs you by the hand and grins at you through a seductive haze of (vape) smoke and promises, she whispers, “come with me, it doesn’t have to be this way”, comments Greta on the new single.
