jo from school is pleased to share details of her debut EP, Grace, Flair & Distance, which will be released on the August 10 via Chess Club Records. To coincide with its announcement, the North London born artist also shares her latest single, ‘Julia Roberts,’ produced by Rich Cooper (CMAT, Billie Marten).
Inspired by a memorable encounter on the tube, the track offers a more visceral side to Jo’s songwriting, as she explains: “I wrote this song after a brief interaction with a man on the tube. It brought me an out-of-body thought of not recognising who you are and how to immerse yourself in living.
“I tried this song out for the first time with the band in rehearsal for Left of the Dial last year and it stopped us all in our tracks. I don’t usually make this much noise, so it felt new and weird, but also very natural.”
The video was directed by Jo alongside Rosa Levenson, and shot on the hottest day of the year in London at Alexandra Palace’s ice rink where Jo holds a part-time job. All the members of the cast are Jo’s friends and colleagues. One of the skaters is her sister, Grace.
