Kati Holland shares new single/video ‘Surf Lodge’

Kati Holland, an independent singer songwriter based in Park City UT has released her new single ‘Surf Lodge’, which is available to stream on all digital platforms now. The official music video for the song can be seen below.

There’s a theme that comes across right away with Kati’s music and visuals – mermaids. Her music is a deep dive into what it feels like to be a fish out of water—trapped in a life that doesn’t fit, searching for an escape, only to rediscover yourself along the way.

At 19, Kati was diagnosed with lymphedema, forcing her to drop out of college and step away from music for nearly a decade. It wasn’t until the pandemic—back in her parent’s home, grappling with her past—that the songs started pouring out. Then, in 2023, after undergoing life-changing surgery, she faced a moment of reckoning and decided it was finally time to reclaim her voice.

When it came time to shoot her first music video, Kati couldn’t bring herself to show her legs—the scars, the history, the part of her that had always felt like something to hide. So, she transformed. She became a mermaid. Because mermaids don’t need legs.

This project is a powerful reflection on feeling stuck, losing innocence, fearing the future, and chasing freedom—only to realize the thing you’re trying to escape is what makes you, you.

“I’ve always had a fascination—almost a voyeuristic perspective—on ‘The Surf Lodge’ in the Hamptons,” explains Kati on the lyrics of the song. “It’s the place where all the well-off, pretty, fun 20-somethings go in the summer, seemingly without a care in the world.

“This song explores my fear of getting older (no one stays 22 at The Surf Lodge forever) and the anxiety of being the last one at the party—a symbol of aging out of certain parts of life.

“I’ve never actually been to The Surf Lodge, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s an expiration date to go—and if the guests can feel it looming, too.”
