Today, the New York-based artist KAZIMI shares her new single ‘Can’t Stop Me Now.’ The singer-songwriter also announces her debut album River Run is out on September 20. The album was co-produced by Robert Ellis and KAZIMI at Niles City Sound in Fort Worth, Texas and Salad House in Los Angeles, California.
On single ‘Can’t Stop Me Now,’ KAZIMI shares an anthem of liberation and delivers a whimsical soundscape layered with texture and groove. Written in the middle of the night, it is imprinted with a juicy darkness, both sparkling and lush. She says, “This song is like the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a joyous release that is playful yet fierce. It’s about getting to the other side of troubled waters and feeling that heady sense of relief.”
Recording it was as celebratory as it was cathartic: “Tracking this song was the most fun we had in the studio. There was an unbridled sense of play and that levity seeps into the tune in a way that I love.” Laying down the backing vocals alone in her Manhattan apartment, however, was subject to a host of comical and humbling obstacles: “There were so many takes with cars honking and my dog snoring, but it was freeing to experiment and push the boundaries of what I could do. I unlocked a new world of my artistry in the process and that felt triumphant.”
