Lexie Carroll shares new single ‘annual birthday cry’

17 year old rising star Lexie Carroll has shared her new single ‘annual birthday cry’. It follows previous releases ‘fall for anything’ and ‘if I built my home from paper’, plus gig support slots for Tom Odell, Maddie Zahm and Wasia Project.

As Lexie Carroll approaches her landmark 18th birthday, new track ‘annual birthday cry’ expresses her fears of getting older in an uncertain world. Her delicate vocals are raw and vulnerable, with a melancholic soundscape reinforcing her overwhelming feelings of teenage angst.

Speaking of ‘annual birthday cry’ Lexie explains: “I wrote ‘annual birthday cry’ just after I turned seventeen. I was feeling overwhelmed with growing up in a world that feels so dark and unsafe. I guess I’ve always just thought ‘oh when I’m older I’ll have this figured out’ and then each year goes by and I still have absolutely no clue how to be a human being! The song is a brain dump of all of my fears, and it’s not the happiest thing I’ve made but I think I just needed to get it all out.”
