Texas-raised, Los Angeles-based queer artist Lindsey Rose Black draws from the sonic traditions of both states to craft a singular, indie country-pop sound perfect for fans of Chappell Roan, MUNA, and Tiffany Stringer.
Today she releases her new single ‘CUNT HONEY’ featuring production from John Velasquez (Vacations, Zella Day) and Ella Vos, along with drums from Matthew Frazier of Local Natives.
“’CUNT HONEY’ is a country-meets-indie pop bop exploring themes around queer identity, y2k purity culture, and feminine power,” says Lindsey. “Growing up in a small religious town in Texas, I learned that painful periods were “Eve’s curse” for causing Adam to sin… There’s so much to unpack as to why this is a BANANAS thing to hear as an adolescent in a body that menstruates, and I’ve been actively deconstructing narratives my body has carried around shame, femininity, and sexuality for years. Viva la cunt, honey!”
