Acadian singer-songwriter Lisa LeBlanc serves up a wonderfully quirky blend of country and funk on her latest single ‘Too Many Cooks’. The track is the third taste of her forthcoming sixth album, Patchwork, arriving February 5, 2027 via Bonsound. Taking inspiration from the familiar saying about having too many cooks in the kitchen, LeBlanc delivers a playful, feel-good number that brings two seemingly unlikely musical worlds together.
The song is built around a bouncy, Chet Atkins-inspired fingerpicking guitar riff, bringing plenty of classic country twang to proceedings. Meanwhile, a funky bassline and tight, syncopated drums provide an irresistible groove, with the occasional hint of a country shuffle. A lively brass section featuring baritone saxophone, trombone and trumpet adds plenty of punch, while a prominent organ gives the chorus an extra country flavour. LeBlanc’s vocals are equally playful, mixing soulful delivery with country charm. The result is an effortlessly danceable combination of both styles.
The accompanying video is just as entertaining, placing LeBlanc in a colourful, retro-inspired cooking competition alongside a cast of mischievous puppets determined to sabotage her efforts. Delightfully silly and full of personality, ‘Too Many Cooks’ is a whole lot of fun.
