Sheffield alt-pop artist Lori moves into a new space with her forthcoming single ‘Deeper’ via Criminal Records, delving into a new electronic sound with haunting vocal melodies and 90’s dance inspiration. The track is a far cry from her debut EP I’m Still Here as Lori shifts from fierce to menacing and is out today.
‘Deeper’ has a magnetism that draws you in and spits you out much like its theme about the torment of unrequited love. Emboldened by its maniacal edge, the hard pop track is an anthem for the chaos of choosing self-destruction in romance. The clashing synths and vocals are driven deeper by the pulsing drums and infectious hooks taking you to the mad underworld of the club. With an off-kilter production reminiscent of Shygirl and Lady Gaga’s early records, Lori produces dark yet irresistible pop powerhouse.
Lori cited Hyper-pop artists Charli XCX, Shygirl, and Kim Petras as influences for this new direction. “Since starting DJing I’ve taken a real interest in production and making music for myself, rather than what I think the industry wants. My new music is the type of music I love to listen, dance and sing along to.”
