Maja Lena shares latest single ‘Stone’ ahead of album release

Maja Lena will release her new solo album Pluto this Friday via Chiverin Records. Her increasing fascination with science fiction and the icy, electronic soundscapes of 1980s Japanese cinema and video game music, particularly that of Joe Hisaishi of Studio Ghibli have been key touchstones on this record.

Today, she shares its final pre-release single ‘The Stone’. The track, which has raw desert blues guitars, plus driving synths and percussion, features a noticeably close vocal (setting it apart from other material on the album).

“‘The Stone’ is set in another imagined landscape, and is about my relationship to my creativity and work,” explains Maja Lena. “I tend to set unachievable goals and standards for myself, and this can ultimately lead to feelings of defeat and failure.”
