Despite having only played her first ever live show just over a year ago in February 2022, Scottish singer and songwriter SILVI has made great strides in just over twelve months. That’s thanks in no small part to being the owner of a voice that’s so powerful and emotive it stops you in your tracks. New single ‘Don’t Wanna Love Again’ is another song which showcases her stunning range.
‘Don’t Wanna Love Again’ explores the themes of anxiety and insecurity within even the healthiest of relationships. Despite the song detailing a positive experience with a partner who displays all the qualities to imply they are dedicated and invested, the apprehension and worry that this could change is underlying through the transparency of the lyrics. SILVI candidly approaches the idea that she sees herself loving the same person forever, and hopes never to consider anyone else.
A fan of rock and evocative, cinematic music, SILVI’s music could easily be filed alongside Lana Del Rey’s epic approach to songwriting but also the brooding style of Two Feet or Mazzy Star. ‘Don’t Wanna Love Again’ shares similarities to previous single ‘Burning’ but SILVI explains “It differs is its lyrical content and vocal delivery. ‘Burning’ came from a place of betrayal and angst whereas ‘Don’t Wanna Love Again’ comes with more vulnerable and pure intentions.”
