Canadian storyteller Sister Ray, returns with the announcement of their new EP Teeth, which is due out May 12 via Royal Mountain Records. The announcement is accompanied by the release of the EP’s highly emotive title track, ‘Teeth.’
The forthcoming EP Teeth captures Coye’s introspective musings on nostalgia, intimacy, and avoidance in their signature style of thoughtful lyricism and unyielding, spacious, and commanding indie rock rooted in folk tradition. This is perfectly illustrated on the lead single “Teeth”, a bittersweet reflection on the loss of cherished memories and the subsequent disillusionment that comes with that trauma.
Speaking on the single, Sister Rays says it’s “like a supercut of nostalgia that morphs into whatever the mid-20s equivalent is of finding out that the tooth fairy isn’t real but hating that you have to know.”
