Velvet Two Stripes take up space on ‘woman’

Swiss rockers Velvet Two Stripes return with ‘woman’, an unapologetic celebration of female identity, self-belief and the freedom to take up space without seeking anybody’s approval. The single offers the first taste of their forthcoming album touch grass, arriving April 9, 2027 via Duchess Box Records. Formed in St. Gallen in 2012, the band have spent over a decade carving out their own brand of raw, rebellious rock ‘n’ roll, and their latest release finds them sounding as confident as ever.

Built around filthy, fuzzy guitar riffs and a wonderfully dirty bassline that takes centre stage in the verses, ‘woman’ is pure garage rock with a bluesy, grungy edge. Loose, groove-heavy drumming gives the track an irresistible swagger, while the vocals are effortlessly cool and commanding, shifting from conversational verses into a chorus that proudly declares, “I’m a woman, yes I am.” There’s no hesitation or vulnerability here, just unshakeable confidence and attitude.

The accompanying video sees the band performing against a spectacular backdrop of snow-capped mountains, letting the music and their natural chemistry do the talking. Raw, infectious and bursting with rockstar energy, ‘woman’ is a celebration of knowing exactly who you are and owning every bit of it.
