YAKKIE’s new single takes aim at fuckboys, exposing the loneliness and internal chaos among men who seek validation from as many women as possible. ‘He Sleeps Alone’, out today, is propelled by an undulating bassline, which grooves into an earworm chorus that sees vocalist Janey Starling jubilantly proclaim the song’s title.
Starling explains ‘He Sleeps Alone’ is “an anti-fuckboy anthem written in the age of the situationship. This song is about the emotional loneliness that straight men create for themselves through desperate performances of masculinity that cut themselves off from real love. If there’s a “male loneliness epidemic”, it’s entirely men’s own doing through their self-absorption and superficiality.”
“I know far too many hot and intelligent women who have been thrown into emotional turmoil by insecure men who are strangers to themselves and end up dragging others into their vortex of self-loathing.”
