London-based French-Cameroonian singer, songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB delivers a compelling journey of self-exploration and acceptance in her latest single, ‘Self-Care 101’. ‘Self-Care 101’ is the third single taken from her forthcoming EP, We’re all going to die anyway, which is set to release on June 6.
With a sound that blends indie pop and rock, she draws inspiration from acts like The Beaches, Rachel Chinouriri and Paramore to create a captivating soundscape. Through heartfelt lyrics and emotive melodies, she explores themes of self-discovery and acceptance, inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences. Overall, ‘Self-Care 101’ is a powerful anthem of personal triumph and growth.
She says of the track: “This song is pretty much a wake up call to myself. I spent way too many years picking on every single little thing about me, worrying about what I didn’t like about myself, and feeling so hopeless about it all instead of living and enjoying my time here. At some point last year, after an eye-opening talk with my mom who’s mentioned in the song, I literally realised I couldn’t go on like this any longer. So I did some work. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m hopeful. This song is my testimony.”
