Yiigaa’s new single ‘Figure Of Doubt’ transforms self-doubt into a dreamy alt-pop statement

Yiigaa releases self-reflective new single ‘Figure Of Doubt’, out today, accompanied with a visual shot by Anna Dobos.

For this new single, Yiigaa spent time in the studio with producer DRIIA, resulting in a track that sonically skirts between dreamy downtempo pop and mid-90s trip-hop; lyrically, Yiigaa explores facing up to self-doubt and the resulting catharsis that comes from expressing this emotion out-loud.

In Yiigaa’s own words, “This year I wanted to start it by being honest. I wanted to address the fear and doubt that I know so many of us feel inside in those moments alone. That feeling that comes most when you’re tired and overworked and scared that after all you give, it may not be enough… This song is about embracing fear and doubt and turning it into strength and power and making art from it.”

With a female-led creative team behind the single’s sound and visuals, ‘Figure Of Doubt’ fittingly lands in the middle of Women’s History Month; Yiigaa touches on how collaborating in the studio with other creative womxn such as DRIIAA helps to shape her creative process:

“Working with other women in the industry is so important to me. You have conversations that are honest and often very therapeutic. It’s so important to support each other but also make art together and inspire each other. Working with DRIIA who also explores multiple genres was amazing as we felt no boundaries when making this song.”
