Nashville-based country siren, Caitlin Cannon, has announced her forthcoming LP, Love Addict, out on May 9, with the release of its title track and accompanying video. ‘Love Addict’ is an immersive, slow-burn confession full of intoxication and reckless abandon. Layers of lush strings, guitars, Mellotron, and pedal steel enhance the buzz as they weave through Cannon’s signature unapologetically bold lyrics. Imagine the soundtrack to a midnight rendezvous in a faded dive motel off the highway—equal parts romantic escapism and raw self-awareness. It’s a modern anthem for the sex-positive woman exploring the messy, beautiful chaos of desire, chasing what feels good, even if it’s bad.
“Originally titled ‘Oxi’—short for oxytocin in this case—‘Love Addict’ is just a sexy little science lesson. And yeah, I’ve been to those meetings,” says Cannon. “Honestly, I can get addicted to almost anything that feels good. The band really nailed the mood and groove which epitomizes that intoxicating feeling. Maybe that’s why we couldn’t stop, and the track ended up pushing five minutes. I like that about it.” The video, filmed and directed by Jesse Weeden, features cameos from Pam Tillis, Logan Ledger, Oliver Bates Craven (Sierra Ferrell), along with Cannon’s studio band—Jon Murray (Miranda Lambert), Eddy Dunlap (The Grand Ole Opry Band, The Time Jumpers), and the album’s producer, Misa Arriaga (Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson).
Love Addict is a bold, genre-defying body of work. Blending dreamy Americana with classic country, the 10-track record swirls with intergalactic pedal steel, gritty grooves, and raw, unguarded lyrics. Recorded live, the album captures the spontaneity of guitars bleeding into keys, drums, strings, and more, creating a sound that feels both timeless and fresh. Think “cosmicana”—a sonic landscape as deep and evocative as Cannon’s storytelling.
