Galway’s fiercest new noise-makers Shark School crash forward with the announcement of their debut album Selachimorpha, arriving June 26 via Strange Brew. The news lands alongside their incendiary new single ‘Don’t Trust A Man’, a track that captures the band at their most unfiltered and confrontational.
Abrasive, urgent and unapologetically raw, ‘Don’t Trust A Man’ is a snarling statement of intent. Built on jagged guitars and pounding rhythms, the track channels frustration into something visceral and immediate. “‘Don’t Trust A Man’ is an abrasive and raw track lamenting the desperation for women to comfortably just be; to just exist free of the burden and disappointment of living within a gendered social hierarchy,” the band explain, with the song cutting sharply through the absurdities of modern life.
Formed in 2023 and comprised of Nora Staunton (guitar/vocals), Peggy Ford (bass) and Meg Bruce (drums), Shark School have rapidly built a reputation as one of Ireland’s most electrifying live acts. Their sound exists somewhere between the deadpan chaos of Wet Leg and the raw edge of Nirvana, but twisted into something sharp, sarcastic, and laced with biting humour and Catholic guilt.
