The track explores the universal experience of staying in a relationship long past its breaking point, waiting until the resentment builds, making the departure less painful. DEAR TASH said of the song in a press release, “It's about the moment you realize you've already left emotionally, even if you're still physically there. Sometimes, it takes hitting that point of frustration to finally walk away.” She continued, “When I wrote 'FATAL' with Ben Mark & Jess Cake, we took a break to have a pint in the pub across the road but continued working on the lyrics and what direction the track was taking.
