Building off of her viral momentum, St. Louis’s hottest new voice Big Boss Vette unloads a new single ‘How TF’ featuring Sleazyworld Go via Beatstaz/Amigo Records/Republic Records. Over a hard-hitting beat Big Boss Vette seamlessly trades slick bars with Sleazyworld Go as they candidly observe and rhetorically question the new status of their success. FLOHIO is turning things up a notch with igniting single ‘Highest.’ Inching towards a highly anticipated debut album, Out Of Heart now finds itself round the corner following a string of super-charged singles. The latest offering is robust in its trap-leaning production, losing itself to racing synths, 808 samples and an all-absorbing, distorted bass. Taking a new direction from the downtempo instospector ‘Cuddy Buddy,’ the track is a boost of confidence and triumph. First making her mark in 2016 with ‘SE16,’ an ode to Bermondsey that saw FLOHIO merge forces with industrial hip-hop duo GOD COLONY. Fast-forward to the current day, the Lagos-born, London-raised rapper has acquired an exhaustive list of prestigious cosigns under her belt, from British Vogue, Naomi Campbell, Dazed 100 to BBC’s Sound Of poll. Allowing herself to take free creative reign on her sound, FLOHIO has become increasingly distinguished in her eclectic reach in genres and collaborators, equally gravitating towards the likes of The Streets or Modeselektor. ‘Highest’ foreshadows a bold and self-empowered debut from the rapper, now feeling all the more established and secure in her stance. FLOHIO comments: “I grew up around the time of games like Playstations and Nintendos; I’m bringing back the nostalgia of me in my living room playing games with my friends at age 10. Game soundtracks like Final Fantasy and Super Mario. I wanted [Out of Heart] to speak to my inner child and where it all started while bringing me back to now and who I am today.” [via Clash]
