Female-fronted Alternative Metal band Hearts & Hand Grenades are back with a new music video and single entitled ‘Our Darkest Night’. This is the latest release from the band since their full-length album Where I Begin which was released on January 26. The music video was directed by Cristo Cola, and the single was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jeremy Tabor at Triple Zero Music. “This video tries to tell a story from the photograph in which the song is about.” says lead vocalist and bassist Stephanie Wlosinski. “The photo contains an image of an apocalyptic time which is the result of an ongoing war. As the story unfolds, the aftermath of the destruction becomes more and more apparent. We felt this song was a great song to tell a story based on something as simple as a photograph. By looking at it, you have to wonder what happened in the background? How did everything die? Why is this person smiling with nothing to smile about?” Guitarist Mike Bress continues, “This is our first concept video. We dipped our toes into something a bit different in that none of the band members are in the video. We try to tell the story with short cut scenes of how life would exist after everything is destroyed. By doing this, we are trying to convey that foolish wars will eventually bring on a world where a once lush earth becomes a desolate wasteland as a result. Living will be almost impossible.”

Spanish Rock Band Strangers are thrilled to unveil their new single ‘With You’, the first track from their forthcoming EP Whispers coming out later this year, via Frontiers Music Srl. Since 2009, Canada’s Valfreya has been honing their sound bringing in elements from black metal, and folk metal with touches of symphonic metal to create powerful music that has been heard around the world. With an impressive five albums already under their belts, they are gearing up for the sixth Dawn of Reckoning, coming out on May 24. A formidable concept album that tells of the goddess Hel striking back at humanity, it is a gritty, aggressive journey into mythology. The band comments on the second single ‘Le Périple’ (“The Journey”), which is being released now in lyric video form: “This album marks a significant evolution in our sound. While our earlier works leaned heavily on joyful and folkloric elements, Dawn of Reckoning takes on a symphonic blackened death metal approach. As for the single, it represents a human’s life: Innocence, discovery, ambition, false ideas, lies… This being slowly realizes that humanity is not virtuous.”

Kittie have officially announced their first album in 13 years. The new LP, titled Fire, will arrive June 21st via Sumerian Records. In advance of its release, the Canadian metal band has unveiled the new song ‘Vultures,’ which follows previous singles ‘Eyes Wide Open’ and ‘We Are Shadows.’ Regarding the new album, Kittie singer-guitarist Morgan Lander stated, “10 years ago, if someone would have told us that we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we’d have dismissed them right away. It feels like something deeper than fate that’s brought us together again, allowing us to create something fearless and magical for you. We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year, and surrounded ourselves with the ultimate dream team to make this album a reality. We cannot wait for you to lose yourselves in the passion and strength of Fire.” The album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice in Chains, Korn, Halestorm, and more. As for the single, Lander remarked, “‘Vultures’ is a bold musical declaration, signaling our new beginnings as a band. ‘Vultures’ is a warning to those with hidden agendas, who thrive on deception. It’s a proclamation of breaking free of the chains of exploitation and a reckoning for those who pick at the bones of those who suffer in silence.
