Speaking on the inspiration behind her new track, Lanes shares; “’Hollywood’ is a song reflecting on our childhood dreams and the rose tinted lenses we see them through during our childhood. It explores the question of whether chasing our dreams is just running into more trouble and why our aspirations have so much power over us. It was written at a point when I was grateful for many things in my life, but felt eternally unfulfilled and put myself through hell to fill a void of dissatisfaction. It was a self realisation, highlighting the sacrifices I was making to pursue this “calling” I had to be an artist. Hearing the struggles of those who had risen to fame and crumbled under the pressures of the industry made me question whether these aspirations to achieve our dreams are worth the cost of fame and success.”
