South Korean alt-pop/electronic artist ID:EARTH (아이디얼스) releases ‘Alarm’, the final track off the sophomore album Space Station out now through ATIV Records, bringing a fitting denouement to her long-spun tapestry of otherworldly characters and stories.
Following on from her recent singles ‘Stars’ and ‘Aliens’, ‘Alarm’ explores the polarising musings on society and human experiences with technology. Sung in both English and Hangul (한글) ID:EARTH’s measured ethereal vocals flit seamlessly over evocative, oddball electronic beats.
She explains: “With ‘Alarm’ I was hoping to fulfil the role of waking people up at the start of their day. The song encapsulates the meaning that while the time in space and on earth flows relatively, time itself does not flow. I wanted it to be a companion piece to my other track ‘STARS,’ which was released in October. It captures a moment paused in space and time, akin to stars lingering in the distance, depicting busy individuals as stars like in a painting.”
ID:EARTH’s new album Space Station dissects the origin of all sounds and revolves around the theme of space-time travel. It tells the story of the phenomenon where all lives are fitted like equations, aiming to convey metaphorical messages through each song.
