Kelley Cole releases new indie rock single ‘Twenty-Something Teenager’

Kelley Cole resurrects teenage chaos in a haze of fuzz and feeling with her latest single, ‘Twenty-Something Teenager’.

This lead single off of Cole’s debut project is a raw hit of nostalgia straight to the bloodstream. Blending the dreamy haze of retro synthesis, the crackling energy of Y2K punk, and the immediacy of her pop songwriting tendencies, Cole delivers an electrifying sound that feels like a time capsule ripped open.

“When did playing in the park turn into drinking at the bar?” she asks, her voice cutting and bare, balancing melancholy with a defiant spark. The song paints a picture of soft grunge nostalgia—pink overalls traded for office attire, childhood sleepovers replaced with late-night existential crises. It’s about missing the magic of being young but refusing to let it slip away entirely.

“i think we all have a version of ourselves that we miss,” Cole explains. “this song is me reaching back to that girl and inviting her to stay with me—sleepovers, twilight marathons, and all.”

A sonic love letter to those who grew up on Avril Lavigne, Paramore, and The Veronicas but have since found themselves drowning in emails and rent payments, ‘Twenty-Something Teenager’ is made for late-night drives, bedroom dance parties, and anyone who is fighting to feel a little bit more alive.
