The song was written four years ago in Central Park, where an impromptu performance immediately caught a stranger’s attention. “When I finished, this high school girl sitting nearby turned around and said, ‘Is that a real song?’” Konigsberg recalls. “And that was ‘Free Byrd’’s entrance into the world.”
