Magdalene, the pop star for the freaks, announces her most visceral track yet, ‘Red Siren Pick Up,’ a cinematic experience featuring cult-favorite indie artist Current Joys. Blending abrasive pop with melancholic indie rock, the track explores chaos, grief, and the dangerous romance of destruction. Inspired by Magdalene’s years touring and performing alongside Current Joys, the release turns personal history into a surreal Americana fever dream.
“’Red Siren Pick Up’ is about worshiping chaos and running towards it to feel alive,” says Magdalene. “The music video follows a runaway bride in psychosis who falls in love with a rock star on television. News breaks that he’s tragically killed in a car accident by an old white truck. She becomes fixated and falls in love with the truck that killed him.”
Co-produced and written by Slushpuppy (KATSEYE, Cortis) and Dylan Harrison (ADÉLA), ‘Red Siren Pick Up’ blends explosive pop hooks and indie rock energy into Magdalene’s most volatile and emotionally raw release yet. The accompanying music video, directed by Boned and PJ Charles, expands the song’s surreal mythology into a twisted Americana horror story. Magdalene stars as a runaway bride unraveling after the death of a televised rockstar, played by Current Joys. As grief gives way to delusion, she becomes consumed by the truck responsible for the accident.
