Whether you’re discovering her music for the first time or have followed along from the start, Matilda Mann’s latest singles offer a perfect glimpse into her artistry. The reflective ‘Say It Back’, the irresistible pop of ‘Meet Cute’ and the gentle folk of ‘Tell Me That I’m Wrong’ lay the architecture for her forthcoming 14-track album, Roxwell, arriving February 28 via 7476 (pinkpirate, Hohnen Ford, Lexie Carroll, and Matt Maltese).
Now, following the announcement of her 15-date UK/EU tour kicking off next April, Matilda Mann releases a new taster from the album; ‘Dazed & Confused’, continuing to showcase her innate gift to distill human experiences with folk intimacy framed by pop sensibilities. At the heart of the song, Mann’s honeyed vocals drift gracefully over softly murmuring drums and jazz-tinged melodies.
Reflecting on her new single, Mann describes, “’Dazed & Confused’ was the last song written for Roxwell. After we wrote the song, we wanted to try playing around with the structure of the song and do things we hadn’t before, like starting with the chorus, having a key change during it, and fading the song out! It’s genuinely one of my favourite tracks on the album, because it just feels so warm and comforting to hear, like the lyrics we wrote.”
