Brighton-based Swedish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nina Winder-Lind shares another captivating preview of her forthcoming debut solo album Wild Love with ‘Headfirst’, a slow-burning art-rock anthem that steadily transforms from restrained groove into an exhilarating emotional release. As Winder-Lind explains, the track is “a declaration of existence and an ode to movement and emotion. It’s an animal song.”
Intertwining guitars immediately set the tone, driving the song forward with restless momentum while Nina’s commanding vocal becomes its emotional centrepiece. Urgent and increasingly impassioned as the track unfolds, her performance recalls the raw spirit of ’70s folk-rock, with flashes of Patti Smith’s fearless intensity woven throughout. Together, the guitars and vocals create a thrilling sense of anticipation that never lets up.
True to its inspiration, ‘Headfirst’ feels instinctive and untamed. It unfolds like an animal stalking its prey, patiently building tension before bursting into a final, exhilarating chase. Raw, immersive and impossible to ignore, the track captures the beauty of surrendering completely to emotion and instinct.
