Sabiyha returns with new single ‘Afterparty’ in collaboration with CALM

Born and raised in South London, but with familial roots that stretch back generations to Guyana, Sabiyha can retroactively plot the path to where she is now; creating authentic, thought-provoking music that celebrates her culture and heritage, whilst also boldly drawing on experiences from her life as integral inspiration.

Releasing her first new music in almost two years, Sabiyha returns with ‘Afterparty’; a deeply personal track, where Sabiyha bravely opens up about her struggle with self-harm. In collaboration with writer/producers Drew Jodi and Sour Sync, Sabiyha was able to distil her emotions with their support and the result is a cathartic and powerful single that stops you in your tracks.

“Whilst ‘Afterparty’ is steeped in intense pain, it’s also a track that symbolises hope for me” explains Sabiyha. “With guidance from the most amazing people around me and the realisation that things can get better. This song may be the most important one I’ve written so far and I hope whoever listens to it and relates, feels less alone”.

Sabiyha is currently writing an open letter for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)about her struggle and ongoing recovery which will be published later this month. For practical support and advice for anyone who is struggling, no matter what you’re going through, head to thecalmzone.net.
