Sasha Summers finds strength through distorted guitars on ‘Belladonna (This Is How You Die)’

Melbourne artist Sasha Summers returns with ‘Belladonna (This Is How You Die)’, a dark and emotionally charged alt-rock single born from heartbreak, grief and the process of finding your footing again. Co-written with Benjamin Stewart of Slowly Slowly, the track captures the push and pull of a relationship that feels impossible to leave behind, before ultimately choosing yourself.

Distorted guitars arrive immediately, setting a heavy, brooding tone that carries throughout the song. While the verses drift into dreamier territory, that wall of guitar never fully disappears, lingering beneath the surface before surging forward once again. The contrast gives ‘Belladonna (This Is How You Die)’ a restless energy, mirroring the emotional turmoil at its core. As the track unfolds, vulnerability gradually gives way to defiance, with Summers channelling the kind of “final girl” resilience that turns heartbreak into something empowering.

Speaking about the track, Summers says: “This one in particular will always be one of my favourite songs I’ll ever write. I don’t think that’s something that will ever change over time. This song and that studio hold a very special place in my heart.”
