Derbyshire born indie rock singer songwriter Sophie Kilburn releases the second single from upcoming third EP Don’t Make Me Angry out October 10. Produced by award-winning Oli Deakin (CMAT, Liz Lawrence), Sophie reignites her self-worth and the love for the place she now calls home.
‘Still in the City’ is an energy boosting self-worth anthem with rocky guitars that drive into sweeping vocal harmonies, all lifted by a punchy singalong chorus. With this single the car windows are coming down as Sophie tells the story of reclaiming self-worth and identity after a breakup.
The song pairs Sophie’s love for classic rock and synth pop sounds paying songwriting homage to Alanis Morrisette and Tracey Chapman. Through thought-provoking lyricism and powerful vocals, Sophie takes you on a visceral journey as she holds onto the things that make her happy.
On the track, Sophie says: “‘Still in the City’ is reclaiming memories of the places you love after a relationship has ended. You fall for someone and share with them places that you love and those memories of you being there together seem to replace the original memory. I wanted to write my own story that gives.”
