Stella Talpo delivers brooding, atmospheric soul on ‘Where Did I Go’

London based soul/R&B artist Stella Talpo releases new single ‘Where Did I Go’, lifted from new EP FINE – out June 10 via DeepMatter.

New single ‘Where Did I Go’ eloquently moves between atmospheric R&B and brooding soul, utilising pillowy synths, warbling electronics and crunching guitars as she examines the lengths at which we go to feel validated and accepted, as she sings: “Long for validation to the point of bitterness / Apologise by default, for things I ain’t even done”.

Stella Talpo has a graceful way with words; probing her own artistic journey and personal development, ‘Where Did I Go’ is a stunning new example of her talent as a lyricist and vocalist, delivering smart, introspective prose through her smoky, alluring vocal.

Speaking on the new track, Stella said: “‘Where Did I Go’ is an insight into how tendencies to people please, trying to be perfect to be loved and validated, and how being anxiously apologetic can change the direction of your life and who you become. How those fears can be so oppressive that you forget who you were to begin with, shaped into the box that they limit you in. “Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?”
