Trout releases new single/video ‘Garden’

Liverpool-based Trout (they/she), the latest signing to Chess Club Records, releases their new single ‘Garden’ today alongside its visualiser. It arrives as the second offering from Trout in recent weeks, who backed up their compelling showcases at The Great Escape last month with new single ‘Gutter’.

On ‘Garden,’ Trout extends a sunnier, paired back insight into their craft, where jangly guitars are uplifted by the warmth of their poised self-production. On the track’s essence, Trout explains; “‘Garden’ is a song I wrote about developing a dependency on something, and over-relying on this day-to-day. I tried to romanticise this feeling in the song, and compare it to two people being in a codependent relationship. It’s about relying on something or someone else for your happiness, and being too comfortable with it to want to change things.”
