Franco-English singer-songwriter Frenchie writes music with pure, honest emotion at its core. Moving with a rare beauty and assuredness, her music traverses soul, jazz and alternative R&B, always delivered with a poised, timeless pop sensibility.
Today, the London based talent announces her self-titled debut album Frenchie, due for release March 28. With the announcement comes a glistening, jazz-flecked new single, ‘Love Reservoir’, featuring vocals from London based Swede Frida Touray.
Drawing from the groove-based rhythms and harmonic complexity of SAULT, Frenchie’s new single ‘Love Reservoir’ addresses a desire to replenish the emotional stocks of relationship, pulling things back from the brink: “I want to find a way to bring us back / When we lose sight in the good in us”.
Featuring the soulful, sultry vocals of Frida Touray, elastic bass lines dance between jagged, jazzy percussion, wispy keys and ethereal brushes of harp, complete with a captivating verse of French spoken word from Frenchie herself in its bridge section.
Speaking more on the release of the new single, Frenchie said: “‘Love Reservoir’ lyrically explores the theme of seeking to refuel and revitalise a relationship’s emotional reservoir, symbolising a desire to overcome challenges and nurture love and connection. Femi and I wrote the song together – and I knew I wanted my talented friend Frida Touray to feature on the track. When she came down to record her vocals, the song was elevated to a whole new level.”
