Feminist punk powerhouse Cheap Perfume has unleashed their anarchic new single ‘Down To Riot’, out now via Snappy Little Numbers. A song about rising up against the 1%, ‘Down To Riot’ invokes a sense of outrage and a desire for change. Shares guitarist / co-vocalist Jane No:
“An early inspiration for this song was hearing so many people after the pandemic complaining that ‘No one wants to work anymore.’ I wanted to yell, ‘No shit, and neither do you!’ No one actually wants to spend the majority of their lives working for someone else’s profit instead of making art and spending time with the people they love. And we certainly don’t want to work for poverty wages. So that frustration evolved into a working-class anthem that calls for the 99% to rise up against the 1%. Music-wise, we wanted it to be really chaotic and loud, which I think is perfect for the lyrics.”
