Belfast five-piece Lord Jane return with ‘Think of Something Nice,’ their first release since 2025’s The Lifting of the Fog EP. Released as part of the Oh Yeah Music Centre’s Scratch My Progress programme, the track continues the band’s exploration of weighty subject matter while further showcasing their distinctive blend of experimental rock, post-punk grit and pop sensibilities.
Built around intricate math-rock textures and a strong melodic core, ‘Think of Something Nice’ strikes a compelling balance between atmosphere and intensity. While the chorus delivers an immediate hook, the song’s atmospheric instrumental passages allow it room to breathe, creating moments of reflection amidst its restless energy. Hints of post-hardcore urgency run throughout, giving the track a sense of momentum that perfectly complements its emotional themes.
Speaking about the single, vocalist Clodágh May explains: “’Think of Something Nice’ is inspired by a health scare affecting a member of Lord Jane. The song is the deep human fear of leaving this world behind without making a lasting impact. The track explores the quiet pressures of reaching milestones, measuring timelines, and questioning your own progress.
