‘What The Heart Wants,’ the new single from Cornish singer-songwriter Nell Davies, is an indie rock song about the evils of nostalgia. It’s about a conflict between head and heart, being stuck in a crappy situation and knowing intellectually that you have to move forward but not really wanting to, hoping that magically things might get better by themselves. The lyrics are based around the metaphor of a toxic friendship.

Like all Nell’s songs, it’s a completely DIY production, recorded in a converted pigsty in the garden of her house near Penzance, with a video filmed in one evening on her favourite local beach.
